Everyone i had or seen melted away after a couple mos. (Africans that is)
Good luck they are a nice zoa.

I had a heck of a time keeping them alive. After killing several colonies I have found that the trick is intense light and high flow. From what I have found over the years they will melt everytime if you put them in the typical zoa conditions. But, if you put them in SPS conditions they will thrive and grow very well.

When you say SPS conditions, you mean high flow and high light. Do you also mean pristine water?

just high flow and high light seems to do the trick. The water in my system is clean but I would not consider it to be prestine.

As to the " No-African "
Or
True Purple/Blue Hornets.

This is the First time I have seen the two side by side.

Could you post more pictures of the two side by side ?

nice! is there a reason you frag them towards the edge of the frag plug and not the center?

What conditions do the true PH like?
I just got a tiny polyp on Sunday that came off the frag plug during transport. I glued it back on and put it in a shadier spot on the bottom of my 24 gal. nano under a 70 watt MH no suppliment in lower flow.
I find it better to start on the bottom of the tank and am worried it wont make it cuz it's so small.
The guy I got it from had his under 20k also.

kass

I got mine mid level in my 24g nano on a frag rack under a 150w Phoenix 14k bulb.

I am not saying you are wrong, but it is funny how many different views are out there. on other site, someone stated almost the opposite view to yours saying that they prefer less light and lower water quality since they come from mud rivers of africa. I have no reason to doubt you, but honestly there are some conflicting views on them.

I have t5 and they are on the bottom of my tank in a good flow area. should i bring them up and put in the middle of the tank?
