Here's a little info on the tank, I have a CadLights artisan 2 100g tank

Total water volume is about 80 gallons

My lights are 2x hydra 26 and a 8 bulb 36in ati dimmable fixture with 4bulbs removed to make room for the hydras.

I have the skimmer and sump that came with the tank when I bought it.

I have a 200w aquavia heater

2x phosban 150s from tlf (one bio-pellets one gfo)

2x dos by apex (cal, alk, mag, and ato)

And the apex controlling it all.

My parms are
Ca 450
Alk 8.96
Mag 1460
No3 16
Phos .04
Ph 8.1
Temp 78.5-79.5
Sa 1.025

Water change schedule
8gal weekly with redsea Coral pro

Now alittle about why I putting this up, i have had this tank up and running since February this year everything was transferred from my other tank into this one after the cycle was completed. I had to move about 4 months ago and had a company in town move my tank everything was going good untill about two months ago when things started dying off I have looked for any and every reason for this to be happening and I have found one.

I only keep lps and softies and the die off is manly the lps but I have noticed some of my zoas not opening also.

I don't know what else to put so if you have any questions please just ask and I will answer them. Sorry about all the spacing out of this I figured it would make it easier for everyone to read the important stuff.

I haven't seen any spikes in ammonia and no signs of stress with fish or inverts. Would I still be losing stuff if that's was the case?

If its not pest and ur parameters r up to par go run carbon there has to b something in ur water if not alk swings
I'm running purigen now
And I have the dos pump dosing 12.3 ml a day of brs alk in .1 ml increments all day long and I have tested my alk, ca, mg, no3, po4 every week could it swing that much from day to day?

Yea believe it or not even with a dosing pump set 10 times a day the swing could still b crazy but i test mag every 2 weeks calcium 1ince a week and i test my alk everyday ,when starting a tank and after addition of new corals

Are you running a full load of biopellets? If so, are you sure the skimmer is able to remove all the waste? If there's too many pellets or too much effluent going into the tank, then they could they be working too well because they're removing all the nitrates/phosphates, effectively starving the tank.

Someone else might be able to respond to the accuracy of my questions about biopellets, but this is how I understand it.

The first time I ran biopellets, I used too many. It was good at first, but eventually I noticed some corals dying off and not too happy. I had to readjust and slowly upped the quanity until I found out what worked.

Well, I guess they must not be working too good since you have readable phos/no3 levels.

Isn't a reading of 16 for no3 kind of high? This should be lower, because you're using biopellets - right?

As far as a bio pellets go I'm still using half the recommended for my tank size and yes and nitrates are a little high what I did this test before I did the water change

I'm just saying this based on my personal experience. But, if this were me I would remove the biopellets and monitor the tank for a few weeks. It could the problem, but then again maybe not.

If your no3 is that high, then they aren't working anyways -- or they could be producing too much waste which the skimmer isn't able to remove.

I just turned off the bio pellets and I will remove them when I get home to see if that makes a difference
