This is a sweet tank with really nice colours on the coral. What skimmer are you running? Also, are you dosing any vodka/vinegar or biopellets? Thanks.
Thank you! I'm running an Omega 180. It's way over rated for this tank but I think that's why I'm getting these results. I'm running zeovit and dosing the KZ products... when I remember haha. It would probably look better if i dosed everyday.
Thanks for the reply. Your acro colours look really good for a small system. Hence why I asked about the filtration. It is working out really well. Got a few questions if you dont mind (it will also help other reefers too):
1. Do you run Zeolite, if so how much and what flow is going through the zeo reactor?
2. Which KZ Zeo products do you dose and how much?
3. What is your water change schedule and how much?
You've worked out a very efficient system here...do you plan to replicate this for a larger system? Many thanks in advance.
Looks like dinoflagelletes to me.Came home today after spending 2.5 weeks in Oregon to find that ALL of my zoas died and there's some weird algae growing in the tank.
Rastas, red hornets, Sunny Ds, strawberry wines, blue tubs, Kilowag, mandarin orange, BBE, fruit loops, bowsers, blowpops, flaming Suns, and sponge bobs gone
The only ones still hanging on are nuclear greens, utter chaos, and fire and ice
Sps doing a k from what I see
This is what I came home to

I checked my parameters and the are as followed
Alk:9
CA: 480
Mg: 1500
No3: undetectable
Po4: 11ppm
Also, one of my mp10s fell of on one side so there wasn't a whole lot of flow in the tank.
So disheartening.
I am so sorry to see this!
It does look like a dinoflagellate outbreak.
Zoanthids at least in my tank are the first to show signs of the toxicity of the water from them.
Check out my thread about hydrogen peroxide treatment for algae. I spot treated in pretty similar areas to where your experiencing the problem and its been a few months now, and the stuff hasn't come back even a little bit!Found a slug this morning.

I've been dosing Tech M and that seemed to help a little but it's still there! I've been looking in to an ATS. Maybe I'll pull the trigger on one.
