I picked up my first anemone on Sunday. He was looking good Sunday and into Monday. I came home from work on Monday to find him on the ground then by Tuesday I found him in a back corner looking what I thought was dead. So I picked him up but discovered he was still alive so I set him back down in the original place i put him and by later last night and into the morning he was looking better. I came home from work today to find him still in the same spot but didnt look all that well.. within an hour he was back on the ground and once again looking like he was dying...

Any thoughts?

Hi mate
How old is your tank ?

Might be that your tank is abit new for it
Not a expert by any means but maybe try placeing in a low light low flow spot and see if looks any better in the next few days , also try to check its foot and see if it's damaged

The sand and rock came from a Tank that was well established. Had been up and running for several years before moving it to my place. It did kick into a small cycle when we first did the move but nothing extreme... I check my levels on before adding him to my tank and everything seemed good.

What do you mean check his foot... It does look like he is sucking his bottom half (foot) inward..

My first anemone wandered for a while to get to a flow area it liked. How is the flow in your tank? They tend to like a little, but not typhoons.

The base with which he sticks to rocks with .
Sometimes when they are took from the tank they have their foot ripped
Did you buy it from your lfs and if so was it stuck to a rock ?

The first night he was definitely moving around what he is doing now is different... The flow were i put him was definitely light flow...

He was lightly stuck to the bottom but the looked him over good and his foot look good when I brought him home... Here is a close up of his foot right now...

Ok. The lta lives in the sand. When I got mine I slightly buried the foot. It then continued to bury itself. After a while it moved around in the sand and found a spot it liked Once in the sand the foot forms a wedge to secure itself

I would place him in the sand in a spot where there is very little flow. I used the handle of a net to sort of secure him in place after I slightly buried the foot. From that last pic his foot seems to be intact. Give him some time to anchor

So I just picked him up to try and place him. take a look at the images... all of his tentacles are small and he was some puffy white on the side of his foot...

I didn't see this before because it was facing the sand... But I didnt notice it earlier tonight before he fell to the sand...
