My first reef! Fluval Sea reef m90

Hi everyone,
After much time and reading I have decided to start my first reef. And as there is not many reviews or threads on the new fluval sea m90 I decided to start my own, and also joined R2R to get as much information and help as all of your knowledgable members can provide. I have setup my tank, and started cycling, I will provide pictures (as soon as I figure out how!) all help and suggestions are welcome hope to hear from some of you guys soon,
Ps can anyone identify the things growing in my tank already? They are probably nothing to be excited about, but I'm pretty psyched!

Hello and welcome!!!Looking good so far!Some of the things growing in your tank are macro algaes.The first one looks like feather caulerpa.The 2nd (if you are referring to the purple color) is coralline algae:an encrusting algae.The 3rd is a little small so wild guess,halimeda.These are algaes that are beneficial to your tank!I remember my first tank-I was stoked to watch hair algae grow!!!Keep us updated!

You got a good start. IMO the feather caulerpa is best kept in a sump. Once it gains a foothold it can be problematic to control. When I started I would sit and stare at the tank for hours facenated by the life that seemed to come out of nowhere.

Thanks for the input guys! Staring at it this morning eating breakfast and found these guys. They seem to open and close, when they are open it looks like they have tiny tentacles coming out of them?

Looks like one of the many Aiptasia species:THESE ARE NO BUENO!

Lol, sholuld I get rid of them? And how?
Or will my clean up crew sort them out when I get them?

Several different ways to get rid of them,and yes you want to! (some that are quite entertaining to watch)!Iv seen some people shock them with an under water electrode,but I just wouldn't feel comfortable with that myself!There are quite a few products out there that require it to be injected into the pest which is sometimes hit and miss.Snails and hermits really wont touch them,BUT the peppermint shrimp will eat the crap out of them!The best results I have had have been injecting them with a small amount of lemon juice using a syringe with needle.Thats just me though!They really cant just be plucked as it will leave a part of it behind and come back with a vengeance!

Ahhh crap! Thanks for all the info, I have looked at aiptasiax? And I also read about a slug that eats the hell out of them. I would love to get rid of them before my tank cycles and want to start adding fish. Have you used either of these methods?

Aptasia is a pain. Probably the easiest thing to do now, being you haven't added any livestock yet, would be to remove the rock with the Aptasia on it and burn the little offenders with a micro torch. Once you get corals in therre it become a bigger problem.

Hi guys, just a few pics updating my tank after week one!
It's looking so alive! Green algae ? Covering all the live rock and
Brownish stuff on the sand? Detritus?
Some red purple cool looking stuff as well.
Any identification welcome

Here is a couple more pics, of which I'm not too sure, I think one is some bubble algae?
And some aloe Vera looking plants? Got the levels tested in the tank last Saturday, and the main man at the legs said that try are nearly perfect! So hopefully this Saturday should see the addition of the first of the clean up crew! Any suggestions?

3 weeks in and some additions have been made! I now have 2 turbos, 2 red legged hermits( bill and ted) and a cleaner shrimp jaques!
Also a sweet torch coral frag! All are settling in well!
