My IM Nuvo Fusion 20

I ordered the korilla 240 powerhead today. It is supposed to arrive Wednesday. The return pump is the last thing I'll need before I can seriously think about making water. I'll be visiting a LFS to get the thermometers, siphon, and other do dads.

So I got home today and found the package leaning against my apartment door. Under it was a note.

The note was from my neighbor who said he found the opened package on the 1st floor in the laundry room.

Out of all the things that have been shipped to me and left infront of my door, this is by far and away the least expensive item. I have no idea why someone would want to steal a powerhead. I still have the box and instructions. I have no idea what they are going to do with it.

Ama......is doing me a solid and sending out a replacement with expedited shipping. I requested the item be delivered to my apartment manager.

Maybe this is penance I have to pay. Of all the equipment in the build, this is one item I could have sourced locally. It was cheaper by a few dollars on line as opposed to in a store. Oh well. I'll get it Monday.

Now I have to figure out what to do Thursday when I order the recirculation pump.

Went to a LFS and got a thermometer, magfloat, and a siphon tube. Leak testing the tank now.

I got the hydro yesterday. Amazingly enough they put it in my mailbox instead of leaving it in front of my door. Funny how things don't get stolen when they are locked up.

As a complete shock I got the return pump today. I wasn't expecting it until Monday or Tuesday.

It appears that I need to start sourcing the water as I think it's time to start the cycle. I can get water from a store, get the salt from an LCD, use my 5 gallon buckets to make the water. This is going to take a while as I don't have a mixing tub.

I did no nos today. I spent non plasma money on the tank. I got some chemi pure blue and the marine pure ceramic balls. I tried to get one of those LCD stick on thermometers but it was out of stock. I also could not find one of them cheap salinity measurement "cups".

I'll get the missing items Tuesday. On Thursday I'll get dry rock and salt. I'll still need to figure out a way to make the water.

So, I was looking on line for some dry rock to put in my tank. At one site, all the natural rock is not available and all the synthetic rock is.

I know things have changed, but are we not able to get natural rock anymore?

No answers to ^

I got my chemi pure in a day early. The marine pure is due today. I will hopefully get salt and water on Sunday, my day off, to start making water.

I would start a new thread for a specific question. Perhaps in the aquascape forum. Will get more eyes on it.

Could use Marco Rocks.

I got dry rock at a LFS today, along with my LCD thermometer, a shelf rock, and salt. All that's left is to source water.

So I am aquascaping today. Doing it "the hard" way.

While breaking stuff apart, I came across this.

Will it be a problem of the other half of this geode is in the tank?

What is the thought on how it looks?

I love the double cave! It is pretty straight for now, but corals will solve that. I think for the Nuvo 20 height it will work out well.

Yeah, when I added the sand it made a mess. Waiting for the cloud to settle. I'll have to take a picture in the am.

Sand still settling. I had to move things around but it's in place. Time for the raw shrimp.

20 lbs of live sand in. The rock was dry. It's been a week. How bad is it that I haven't done the dead shrimp yet?

Nothing bad about it. Bacteria will still populate naturally, just slower.

Did Digital Aquatics go out of business? Website isn't working and their products can't be found.

First test before dead shrimp enters tank.

pH 8.2
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate between 0 and 5

Exactly where I expected things to be, but I'm not sure where the nitrate came from. In goes the shrimp. I'll do a water test after work tomorrow so the shrimp will have been in there for over 24 hours.

Water test tonight

Ammonia 1.0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate between 0 and 5

Water test tonight

Ammonia 2.0
Nitrite 0.25
Nitrate between 0 and 5

Going to the LFS tomorrow to get the quick start bacteria helper. Good to see some nitrite in there. It means my live sand was actually alive.

Shrimp came out last night so I am surprised the ammonia went up again.
