My Ktar melting pot frag

I thought I would share a picture of my Ktar melting pot frag.Still has a long ways to go but I'm starting to see some color coming out.first picture I have shown of it.Seem to be a fast grower.

Is he selling below $600 per frag or is it still up there?

My understanding he said he's not going to be selling frags anytime soon.Maybe he will see this and chime in.The first frag did sell for $630.00 and some change.I got lucky didn't cost me that much.

WOW never mind lol not worth 630 for a small frag IMO lol, but still that ones of the nicest chalices i have EVER seen

yeah, i am on his list... i emailed him about 6 months ago, and he said he was having trouble with the mother colony, bbut i emailed him a few months ago and he said it was recovering nicely.... hopefully he will charm in and let us know how it is doing.... i still want a frag of that bad boy...... and a few others he has.....

Nice chalice Texas-how big is that frag? Ktar is good people to deal with and he has alot of sweet corals-

I have a buddy that bought the frag off eBay for $600+ and he said it still hasnt colored up for him.

$600 is a insult, it's a nice chalice but no way in hell would I pay $600 for a frag of it when there a tons of nice chalice's available in the hobby for a lot less $...This whole naming of corals and then putting an expensive price tag on them has really gotten out of hand! It's getting to the point of greediness and over saturation of people calling their corals LE, I use to be guilty of overpaying for corals then I realized it how out of hand it is getting, now everytime a nice chalice appears in the hobby you have to mortgage your house just to be able to afford a frag.....pure craziness!

I totally agree haha. Just gotta buy whats appealing to you, and hopefully it wont be too much. If you bust for 2 or 3 nice pieces, you can trade em for more too, so thats my look on it

I agree that $600 is way too much money for a piece of coral where there is really only one picture from one persons mother colony. I may be wrong, but I spend a lot of time on the boards and I do my fair share of trading and I am not the only one who feels that way. I have no problem throwing money into my tank, but I at least want to know that the piece will have similar results in more than one tank and under different types of lighting. I am not throwing any mud around because it is a nice piece, but I can think of 20-25 chalices I would rather spend my money on. my $.02

i have seen the mother colony in person. its has to be one of the most colorful corals ive ever seen. too bad its so expensive..

Just to clear things up I put the first frag ever to be sold on ebay starting at .99 cent and the person whom brought it bid it to that amount. I had no idea that the chalice will even sell for that much i figure in the 200 to 300 dollar range. Everyone thinks people are crazy for paying to much for a coral or frags but if you have the money to spend and you really want something you will pay for it. I myself has spent so much money on corals and mostly frags so that makes me crazy. People name their corals so they can identify them from other corals that are similar. Like the watermelon chalice look how many different watermelon are out there so that why tyree put his name on the that chalice because he was the first to own it or acquire it. People just need to stop hating on other. The thread was about a picture not how much the coral cost you guys seem to get sidetrack very easily that why there are alot people whom dont post and just read because of some of ignorant people we have on this website and RC.

Thats the great thing about eBay......... If you put the coral on there fore 99 cents and it goes for 600.00 then you are not ripping anyone off. You did not try to sell the coral to them for 600.00 they were willing to bid that amount and pay that amount, they entered the numbers!
I sell a lot of coral on eBay myself and I start them cheap. Some are medium to high end where others are just your average zoanthids. Its all up to the bidder on how much they can or willing to pay.

Just another thought...... Its all about supply and demand. From what I have seen Ktar has the only Melting Pot Chalice colony which makes the supply low and in turn makes the demand high. I just wish I had that colony........ Sweet

My thoughts exactly. That is the beauty of e-bay. you find out what people are WILLING to pay for a particular coral.
