oh my word....

I'm sorry but that makes my heart sink. It's rare you find an actual reefer working in a big box store that has the knowledge to care for saltwater critters properly (at least in my experience)

I'm glad some people have had success with stuff from them but geez.....

The two leathers on the left look ok IMO. They're definitely a little grumpy at the moment, but if you were to put them in the proper environment they would probably grow into a nice piece. That Gorgonian in the back doesn't look too bad either. The zoanthids just look kind of blah. Not a lot of color going on there.

The leathers looked like they had a fungal infection. Zoas were browned out and way beyond grumpy. Most of the frags were dead and everything is covered in cyano. I'm pretty sure these were all healthy, colorful frags when they came in. It's sad because they actually sell what you need to put these tanks in pristine condition.

I've bought fish and corals from my Petco. I don't go there with getting a healthy fish or coral in mind. I look a the price and shipping cost I would pay online. I have a QT set up that runs 24/7. Anything I buy from them or anywhere will be Medicated and rehabilitated for 2 months. I have had success with their livestock sick and healthy. I can't beat the low prices anywhere else.

My Petco has coral also. Since they are the only source within 100mi for saltwater, I've browsed there occasionally.

Last night was the first time I didn't see any overt signs of illness in the tanks, but everything was kinda brown and algae covered. They definitely need to spend some time cleaning glass (if I can't see it, why would I buy it!).

Mine had a dersa clam too. I was shocked.

I was once in a Petco that was selling Aptasia, They labeled them "Glass Anemones." A woman I talked to in there said she has a tank full of them and loved them... Some people..
WOW.

You have to wonder though...if petco is your only source of knowledge on saltwater....
