I too have a 40 breeder, but a ATI 6x39. I hope I don't bleach my lps and sorties with the lights.

Sorry, haven't checked in on this thread in a week or so... I will say that my four bulb ati is quite bright at approx 12 inches above the tank. With 6 bulbs you can program them to only have 2 - 4 on at a time if you so choose.... lots of options with 6 bulbs

Your sump honestly looks exactly like the one I planned to do for my 40g breeder. What a relief I thought I was crazy because Ive never seen anyone else really do it. Great looking tank!

I haven't yet either but I wanted to have a frag tank and a display and at the same time keep it simple, clean, and relatively inexpensive to run by combining the controller/heater/dosing systems instead of having two seperate tanks with twice the equipment. Only drawback I've seen so far is having the frag tank at such a low level but I'll get over it

Latest pic with the water finally clearing up. My skimmer was going nuts but I think its because I added seachems stability(?) for getting the bacteria pop. started. Will hopefully be getting my first addition(clown or something similar)friday.

Picked up a clown and a royal gramma. Both are quite small and seem to get along fine so far. Next fish will prolly be a cherub angel or something else on the small side, but that will be a few weeks away still.

So I haven't updated in a while... The clownfish got sucked into the overflow and trapped in my pvc bubble trap in the sump, unfortunately I didn't find him in time to save him I did make a modification to the bubble trap so a fish could escape should it happen again. I did pick up a firefish the other day and he is getting along great with the gramma Here are a couple of pics of the tank and frag/sump setup. So far I am very pleased with the setup and design as it seems to be very functional with plenty of space to work with. About the only thing I still need to do is get the gfo reactor running and install doors and side panels. Any questions on the setup just fire away.

Added a couple of new residents... I picked up a snowflake clown (to replace the clown that passed away) and a Skunk cleaner shrimp. Also, picked up a Yellow tail Blue Damsel and a Bangii Cardinal, the cardinal is in the display while the damsel gets the frag tank all to himself. So far everything is getting along perfectly I do have some frags in both the frag tank and display and will be adding more soon.

Tank is looking good except I've been fighting this slime algae that is not Cyano though I do have some of that as well. The (brown)slime in the display is disappearing but the sump still has quite a bit.

Update with some pics... Tank is doing well and has 4 fish(clown, firefish, bangii, and my awesome yellow wrasse)and will prolly be adding a cherub angel as well as a smaller blenny of some type. Frag tank is full of colonies and frags Pretty happy with things so far. Here are some random shots....

As far as updates go things are doing ok except I have a large alien eye type chalice that has pure white/clear blotches(bleached?) on parts of him. Also, while algae is almost non-existent, I have this slimy brown sludge that is nearly everywhere... easy to remove but very annoying.

Here is the new guy that we got from Saltwaterfish.com. Seems healthy and was eating even before I put him in his temporary home(frag/sump tank). We named him Ragnar.... can you tell me why?

I too keep saying this is the last fish, the last fish. hehe. I have a 50, same footprint as your tank. Got 7 fish and might add one or two more. Dwarf angels are my favorite!
