My boyfriend surprised me by logging onto my reef2reef account and getting Patrick's phone number and buying his 75 gallon tank for my Christmas present! I was stoked! I had been talking to Patrick about getting it, but decided not to spend money on myself right before Christmas.

I realize this post may be best suited for "member tanks", but I wanted to share my excitement with you Chattanooga people.

I stained the stand a dark walnut color and put a light coat of gloss over it. It looks great! I've got it set up now in a corner of my dining room. It has vho lights, which I don't know much about. I also got a aqua c remora skimmer, which seems to be doing the job. I bought water from 5th day and was impressed that they had a 55 gallon water container with hose to put in my jeep. The hose reached all the way inside, so I didn't have to carry 15 5 gallon buckets of water. LOL.

The ammonia is currently at 1ppm, and hopefully will go down soon. I added some live rock and can't wait to get started. Feel free to let me know if you have any ideas, fish, or corals you would like to sell/donate to me. I know I want some tangs and that's all that I am sure of so far. I'll try to post photos soon.

I think we all put our stuff on here Jules, our tanks in my opinion should be in the CRC forum. You should take pics of each stage of progress and make this your build thread. Good luck with the tank and let us know if you have any questions or need any help.

Congratz on the tank julie.

New tanks are always fun and I just setup my own frag tank this week.

Congrats and can't wait to see the progress!

Ok, here are a few photos after I stained the stand and got the rocks semi-situated. I've got it set up in a corner of the dining room.

if you like clowns you might want to go ahead and just put them in.... they are hardier than chromis and will cycle it for you well.

Just a thought. Nice tank.

I've got a nice piece of pink tipped frogspawn and a nice piece of dayglow green hammer just waiting for you. I'm afraid that they are pieces that can be placed in holes or glued to a rock, but I totally suck at gluing, so you are going to be on your own for that.....

Well, I already have one clown in my 29 that I was going to move over. I guess I could get a mate for him/her. I'm open to suggestions. Mine is an oscillaris (sp?). What do I do...just make sure to pick a smaller mate or is it supposed to be larger?

Thanks Susan! I have glued a few things down, so I should be able to handle it. Can't wait...I'll let you know when I'm ready for them.

Great job on the stand Julie! It looks great. Sounds like it is coming along nicely! As far as trying to pair up clowns the female is the bigger fish. How big is the one in your 29? Depending on it's size and age it might already be female. The easiest way I have found is to get a much smaller fish (which should make it a male) and hope the larger fish (female) accepts him and doesn't kill him. The female clown fish can be quite aggressive and mean. Hey just like most women!! LOL!!

Good luck and have fun getting it stocked up. Buying fish is so much fun!!

Thanks, it took several coats to get it a nice color, but it was worth the work. My clown is probably about 2.5 inches long. Would you introduce them in the small tank or go ahead and put them in the big one to give them more space to get along. The skimmer is working great by the way, thanks!

Also on your shrimp goby pair they are cool, but remeber they might make their home on the back side of the rock. There is no gaurantee they will make their home right out front for you to watch every day.... my personal experience was similiar i knew they were alive, but hardly ever saw them.

Just something to keep in mind.

Brandon

yeah mine like to trick me i hadnt seen the goby in almost a week and i was worried i smushed him during the rescape of my tank i even picked up the rock they lived in but a few days later i noticed my suncoral was on its side and started looking and there he was diffent rock with the shrimp right along his side. i realy like smaller fish in a big tank much more interesting to watch them move about .
