I believe this happens if you have too low of flow for the H. Mag... Mags require high flow. Mine also did this a bit when I first got it but only after I turned my flow off for feeding

Id let it ride. I have a mag and I must say, these are more robust than people give them credit for. Got mine from a reef show, foot was somewhat sticky, tentacles not sticky. Two weeks in a basket to heal and it was a bit stickier, went into the tank, and then balooned up and went into a WP40. Cut up a bit, I put it back in the basket, 3 weeks later back into the tank. It moved to a little cave where it pokes out as much as it wants, the clowns found it, and it has been awesome for 6 months now. Don't sweat the balling up, mine does it sometimes, others not. It doesn't seem to depend on flow/light/anything, it just does it now and then. The clowns love the thing.
I feed it a half a silverside once a week, I dont want it to get too big too quickly. I have a good amount of flow, but it actually LEFT the highest light/highest flow area of the tank in favor for less of both.
Its color is outrageous and it is now VERY sticky, eating like a pig. A bit too sticky actually... I am missing an anthias and a cleaner wrasse....
Mine is deep purple with neon green tips, under the blue LEDs it looks AMAZING. You are gonna love yours, just let it do its thing on its own, if it is bummed it will move, if it stays put, feed once a week and let it be happy.
Oh and dont listen to those who say if it inflates and deflates frequently it will DEFINITELY die. Mine did that for the first two months frequently and still does it rarely, but it is healthy as a horse. Probably had it for 7 months now, its color, fullness, and appetite have never been better.

I just added a nem like too, and is also doing the same thing, never really fully opens up on one side, mouth is not open, inflate deflate never all at once. I put mine down further in the tank, but put its foot down instantly and has not moved. If it need more light it would move to more light right? Not much help I know, plus pretty new to all this so thanks for your post.

Well I increased my flow as I was running my mp 40 on reef crest in a 65 gal breeder tank..The reef crest dial was set to the 3rd led..so last night I changed the reef crest to short pulse..Some one said they like a more of a rocking flow that general surge?..This morning there was still no change..been keeping nems for years but this is my first h.mag.....

Gorgeous glad to see it hosting ur clowns so quick. I agree i wouldnt worry about it balling up. Its beautiful the way it is

This is something people always concern over and ive found from.experience that anemones deflate allll the time. Its their way of excreting bad water and many different reasons as long as it doesnt lose its tenticles

I've kept rbtas for years split em' and everything. .This would be my crowning achievement..The nem is just droopy looking..If it was an rbtas I would say based on my experience it's not good..but a h. Mag. Is a whole other animal I have 0 experience with..
