My Reefing Room Begins...

This, I would test it that way, and if it overflows make provisions to handle it. Possibly a hole in the sump with an upturned 90 just a fuzz below the rim that is plumbed to a drain or a small reservoir that can handle the overage. Then at power up you just need a way to handle the lack of water (I have been kicking around a pump and float switch in a similarly needed vessel. That way I could disable my ATO until I emptied that container. Hope that makes some kind of sense lol
Rather than a connection at the top why not connect the extra reservoir at the bottom with a bulkhead it'll basically just add small volume to your sump when everything is running and when power is out you'll have all the extra space.

Made a rack for the 4’ tank... at an angle... thanks saltyreefer for the idea... I have a gyre xf150 underneath rack to blow detritus and what not

This is awesome I love how it's under the frag rack to keep the detritus up. You may want to have a cut out in the egg create so you can get it out. Once you have frags on it you'll never want to take it out and clean it and mine get clogged and need a good vinegar bath every once in a while

Awesome. All caught up now. I agree that plumbing sucks... and I did maybe 1/100 of what you did!

FYI: Ran the 70 pint dehumidifier in my shack all night last night and that thing worked like a champ. RH was 40%, and had gotten down to 37% at some point in the night. Considering the amount of rain we've had lately and all the mist and fog we had this morning (I could barely see the shack from my back porch) I was pretty impressed. The only drawback is the heat. I'm dealing with just over 100 sq ft so it's probably a bigger issue for me than it would be for you. My AC was set at 76 and it was running on high when I checked this morning, forget what temp the hygrometer read, but I think it was 74... guessing the AC was going to be shutting off soon.

I did have the dehumidifier running at the max setting of 35% so it ran more than it needed to. I'm going to do a little more testing to see what keeping it at 50-60% does for the heat situation. I think I I can maintain 60 or lower I'll be in good shape. Plus if I only have to run this thing in winter months, at least I don't have to worry about running a heater.

Looks great! One suggestion, if you haven’t done so already, you may want to replace regular power outlets with GFCI ones. I see you have at least two regular outlets on the wall with the sink, especially the one right next to it.

Just ordered this lastnight... The humidity in that room is crazy... I have to get that under control... Ive been leaving the window cracked all day/night and the wife wasnt digging it. So I hope this badboy works... im gonna have to mount it up a little so it can drain into the wash basin... Im not gonna empty that thing twice a day...

The one I’ve been borrowing was running a lot more than I wanted when I set it to maintain a particular RH%, so I broke out an old school timer (pins that are on/off in 30 min increments). It’s currently set to 30 minutes on 1 hour off, and it’s been working well so far. Last time I checked the RH was mid 40s!

The rest of my house is usually around 45-47% so, gonna try to maintain that RH%

So dehumidifier came in today, but didnt have time to mess with it... gonna be dialing it in here for the next few days...

Make sure to share your initial impressions. I won’t be able to mess with mine till this weekend.

It is loud... ill say that... makes alot of squeeks and ticks... hoping that goes away over time... draws alot of power as well... dimmed the lights in the room when it would kick on...

Does it give off a lot of heat? I tried one a few years back and had to stop it was giving off so much heat that it was increasing the evap. RH stays around 50 to 55 so I'd like it a little lower if I could but it's not causing issues.
