My Six Armed Friend

Ok, now that I got that lengthy thread quiet, I think I'll do a little studying for this project to help my Fromia

It's ironic because someone just posted a thread about what food people feed their tanks. One member posted the food available in California. These are companies that we have access to in Canada but 80% of what that member posted I have never seen here in Canada and I live in Toronto and am surrounded by a bunch of lfs's. Then someone posted from Florida saying they haven't even seen most of those foods. I followed up saying if I had access to all of those foods I probably wouldn't need to add supplements. :-) It really goes to show the depth of difference in availability of stuff across the world and even within a single country. :-)

I agree with that! And I'm not sure how much you got out of that mess of a thread from a few minutes ago since you were one of the last people to join...it got so derailed...

Oh ya, I read most of it. :-) I'm more upset by the lack of available food up here. For instance we can't get TDO pellets up here because there is an ingredient in it that is prohibited here in Canada. Can you believe that? Supposedly it's considered carcinogenic up here or something like that. I guess they're concerned about it getting into the water system from dumped aquarium water down the drain. I hope this isn't the case with those frozen foods that I can't find anywhere up here. I would rather feed more robust foods than having to resort to supplements. :-)

That was one of the things I was trying to get across to some of those guys...it's better to feed more robust foods than having to go with supplements...I wasnt exclusively talking about feeding supplements but that's what they continuously brought it back to though

Hey guys, cool observation I made regarding my Fromia... he appears to be very attracted to benthic sponges growing on rock...he found it himself and was pretty obviously trying to feed on it! @Karen00 did you see this post?

Natural is always best but obviously using supplements to add to existing food is the only option for some folks and if I can't get some of these different foods in then I will be forced to continue using them. Even buying seafood as a way around buying that frozen food is cost prohibitive up here. :-) But we'll leave that thread behind. I look forward to seeing more from your research into these stars. :-)

I agree with what you're saying btw...

Of the two sponge species which were present at the time, he only tried to feed off the benthic one attached to the rock

Time to go out and try to find some select pieces of live rock for this guy...
