And by in sync, I mean that for a few hours every day this week, my temp and ph were numerically identical! I'm guessing this can't be too uncommon as the number sets are pretty closely related.

But hey, have a look at this.

Anyone else happen to have any cool tank coincidences?

You need to calibrate your pH probe :p
Seriously though that's a nice coincidence !!! Haven't thought of it but it makes sense ...
What I learnt from all of this - you don't need to micro manage your pH to be above 8 and use refugiums, kalkwasser or co2 scrubber like everyone else says to grow brilliant acros !!!

Abhishek

My windows are open all day night long, even in winter lol. with a massive fan exchanging humid air for outside air 24/7.
Are your probes calibrated? Seeing your ph makes me feel relaxed about mine.

Me too !! Makes me feel like am not the only one with 7.7 pH .. difference is I calibrated my probe so definitely my pH is low whereas Adam's might be actually high if probes not calibrated .

My PH has always been this low. In fact I had no idea that would even be a topic of interest when I started this thread lol

Truth is the probe had been bad since last april. I just now finally added a new one and calibrated it on Sunday. I'm used to seeing Ph at 7.2 lol!

No, mine dips down to 7.65. Yes both my probes are calibrated. I've bought so much calibration fluid thinking that it has to be wrong but it's not. My corals seem to grow just fine though. There is a study showing corals can regulate their internal ph.

Ha so am i the only one with "low" ph around here?

Nope... Im usually between 7 and 7.6 depending on the day. I can dip to under 7 if the gas heater is on in the basement, or if there are a bunch of people down there for an extended period of time.

I'm a horrible reefer. So out of sync.

This is probe, circuit or calibration error. It’s highly doubtful any coral can maintain so large a gradient across its membranes such that it could calcify with pH of seawater that low. It would also indicate lethal levels of CO2 in your house, and you are still here posting.
Edit: Wouldn’t be lethal levels of CO2. Had to look it up to be sure.

Could be off a bit, but it would have to be a circuit error, and Im not replacing the Apex for something like pH. :) Im quite familar with these instruments and their intricacies from my job. The pH has been within the range of 7.6 -7.0 for 18 or so months across five probes. Theres not been any issues with the tank, and as long as the trending is as expected, Im not worried about the numbers :D

You will never walk alone my friend !!! We have an army of "LOW PH ACRO GROWERS " myself included :D averaging around 7.8 with as low as 7.5 with calibrated probes.

That's pretty cool, I'm sure mine are at times too, pH usually hovers around 7.8-7.9. Temp is always within .5 of 78.
