My tank has finally arrived.

Again, I am so excited about my new tank. I have only had freshwater tanks before so the waiting game who's has begun is very new to me.
I wanted to share pictures of what I have so far.
I welcome any comments, suggestions, and questions you all might have and thank you in advance.


It is 185 gals with a 78w MH+T5HO reef light.

I want to establish a reef with soft and some hard coral and community fish.

We are thinking of going to get some live rock from our local aquarium. The owner recently sold one of his show tanks and he would sell me the live rock for $6 a pound.
Below are a couple pictures of the rock in his tank. What do you all think?

6$ a pound is kind of spendy... if it was me id start with base rock, dont have to worry about hitchhikers or pests, and cheaper.

Thanks Socal619 - I was thinking the same thing. He said he has on order of dry rock coming in later this week that he sell me at $2 a pound. I am still thinking of buying some of this rock and placing it on top of the dry rock as base rock.
I will post what we decide later tonight.

OK, so we went and did buy some of the live rock and were able to negotiate a better price. We also picked up some chromies and hermit crabs to help get some more good bacteria going in the tank. I also bought some Purple Up and some TLC.
After we added the rock we noticed about three brittle starfish, a baby crab, some small snails and a couple worms. Pictures are below... Please let me know if I should be concerned about any of the hitch hikers. Thanks!
