Hi all,

I posted on GHL Facebook group and my post was deleted. Hmmm. not before at least 1 person shared they had the same experience.

Most recently, with hurricane Dorian bearing down on the poor souls in the Bahamas and Florida, SC/NC, GHL was very thoughtful in posting support for those who were in the path.

Days later, they updated the app.

Now - in my experience, with every app update, the MyGHL access between the Profilux 4 and the web breaks.
To fix this, as far as I know (this could b a learning experience here) you MUST connect a PC via USB and update the profilux firmware, which goes well most of the time) Alerts still go out, so wifi works, and you can manage via the local network if you have the webserver on. but that leaves you dead in the water if you are remote to your network. (Fancy IT people setting up vpns and static IPs and connecting remotely excluded)

So - anyone who had set their tank to go, and was away monitoring it from elsewhere would have lost access (Or at least I did).

Has this happened to anyone else? seems to me it happens every time, and when I ask about it I'm Squelched.

I have also not experienced this, atm i can not update my firmware while my windows lap top went copout.

Have you analyzed your home network? Ime all things wireless get a bit wonky if the network itself is needing some tlc. Ie when my router started to go, had just enough juice to connect to the internet, but would send my devices in an endless download loop if i tried to send or receive any packets.

Disappointing to hear that GHL is filtering their Facebook group that much. Really sucks when companies do that IMO. Best of luck fixing the issue :(

The only issue I've had is with the cloud myghl.com gave me an error message the other week, but it was fixed within a few hours of being reported.

I haven't had any other issues connecting with the iPhone app, pc GHL CC, or cloud myghl.com. My firmware is 7.22 from 05/18/19 so no updates there.

Have any screenshots of the issue to share? If not, grab some the next time it happens.

Thanks, I'm being told i need to update the firmware more often. I suppose every 4 months is reasonable, however, other devices go much longer.

I was on the latest wireless firmware that indicated there were any changes (From the changelog) to MyGHL, however, the last update broke the connection.

My wariness about updating is that i have had to do emergency recovery 2 times now, once with a wired update and another via the browser based on GHL Youtube instructions.

It's a more pleasant experience not having to touch it and having everything stay working than having to worry every update if something is going to go wrong, just to maintain connected access.
Is everyone else out there just having that much more luck with their device?

@Ditto @Matthias Gross @Vinny@GHLUSA @Brew12 @WWIII can we maybe get some actual useful help here :)
Let me add that i get the most support from Vinny which is great, but the helpdesk has told me in the past it cant be done, when it can...

I love the stability otherwise. the feature improvements are nice and welcomed, but there has to be a better way to indicate when a change might affect you and go update now kind of notification?

I don’t think they are filtering it per-say. They remove allot of support type posts from facebook and encourage people to submit a ticket and their forums. They won’t answer personal support items on the facebook group.

That’s why I told the OP to go to the support system that GHL has in place to get the best answers... I even had links to all the different places he could get help from GHL direct. Apparently someone didn’t like my posts and they got removed.

To be perfectly honest, it's not a problem of support. I know what the problem is, and I know how to fix it. I've also fixed it already. I'd really like to know if it's happening to other people, or if I'm all alone.

Agreed, WiFi is iffy at best, which is why it baffles me the profilux has no eth port.

That being said, I have measured high signal strength with full bars in the profilux and a 3rd party wifi analyzer
Showing -45 to -59 db snr.

My networking equipment is all meraki stack, supporting a multitude of devices.

The connection seems not to be an issue as I am able to access webserver and emails go out for hourly parameters.

I'm certainly open to ideas because I've simply run out having consumed all support options.

In P4 - there is two things that need to be update - the firmware of the computer and the WiFi module. The WiFi module can be update through WiFi but it is recommended to do it through USB and use the WiFi update tool. The computers firmware must still be updated through USB and GCC. The critical things with the the app seems mostly be the WiFi module because it contains the files for the web server. You must look at two different places in their support/download page to first find the WiFi update. It is situated below the headline Firmware rather early in the page and is named WiFI-module-ESP-update. Here is the latest. The update for GCC that include firmware for everything else in the computer you will find in the end of the page - headline Software, tools and drivers. Here you usually can download the three latest versions of the GCC (including firmware for the computers). The latest one use to be a beta release (not normally recommended to use if you not are an experienced user of GHL products) This is the latest "sharp" version. However - I normally always download the beta version of GCC and seldom run into problems. If you run into problems - you can find all GCC version you have install below c:/program (x86)/GHLcontrollcenter_Vxxxx. Dubbleclick on the Icon GHL Controll Center.exe and you will start the version you want

I run multiple setups of GHL computer. One P4 and one P3.1 at home; 1 P4, 3 P3.1 and 1 stand alone at one of my workplaces, 1 P4 in my friends place and another P3.1 in another place. My friends P4 Firmware is 7.18 (latest 7.23) and his WiFi module is 6913 (latest 7078)

I have not been out for the problem you talk about - not even with the one that haven´t been updated for a while. I often let the computers firmware be unchanged if I do not have any problem that the new version will fix but I normally update the ESP (WiFi firmware) as soon as possible. And I must say that the ESP have been better and better. You can update through WiFi (the WiFi module only) but I prefer to use the tool and USB. This because - if you need to update the file system - you lose your WiFi settings.

IMO - the App works better and better - it can be slow sometimes but I like it more and more. We are 5 persons that use the app - every one with individually accounts but all have access to all profilux at my workplace.. We have SMS alarm and when we get it - we can normally check through the app.

Sincerely Lasse

Sorry for the delayed response :)

Are you running the latest Wifi and HTML interface also?

Have you thought about assigning a Static IP Address to the unit to see if it works better?

I asked this question over on the support forums and it got removed. I genuinely had no idea they were so unresponsive, hence the question in the first place.

Apparently if you just remove comments about insanely slow orders, no one will ever know its a problem lol (I've since learned is is a VERY common problem)

Them and Red Sea, I guess!!

Neptune is the best IMO. Doesn’t regulate like that.

I second this. (I actually suggested the same on OP's FaceBook post.)

I've seen the same thing with Neptune lol. In fact I think Neptune has some of the worst customer service and warranty policies of any hardware/software company I've worked with. ...but I guess that's another topic. Sorry... I'm starting to detail the thread lol

No, I wasn’t commenting on their warranty or customer service. I meant that they don’t filter their Facebook groups. People can complain all they want, as far as I’ve seen. Lots of (justified IMO) AFS bashing lol.

Thanks for the thorough guide for updating the Profilux, I hope others are able to use this to help them troubleshoot.

In my case - I understand the issue, the wifi (ESP) was out of date (By 8 months DEC 2018 build). According to GHL change log, there were no ESP updates that would change the MyGHL connection between the build I was running and the latest.

That being said, come August MyGHL update, the Profilux stopped communicating with MyGHL ONLY. it still sent emails, still had webserver access, but no cloud connection.

Updating the Wifi ESP to the latest firmware - reset all wifi settings, however once configured again, no surprise to me connection restored.

My concern is that the unit worked for 8 months without issue, there must be a way to alert users that the next update will break the MyGHL connection. I am all for updates, new features and functions, but does the connection to My GHL have to be broken seemingly every other software update?

Hi - my issue is exactly that. While it is clear that every time GHL makes an update, the EU should scramble to do all the updates (GCC and Wifi) it seems to me this shouldn't be the case. I was running update from DEC 2018 until it broke in AUG, I updated the WiFi esp at that time and connection restored. This happened in DEC 2018 also, but i discounted it as me being new. when it happened again 2x more... I'm now wondering what's going on.

Seems some people are not having the connection break specifically after GHL announces a change.

Why is this happening to me? am i doing something wrong? No one seems to be able to focus on this and I can't tell if it's my unit, me, or something to expect...

FB post!?! If you commented I didn't see it All my posts to GHL are proactively deleted instead of responding or allowing commenting...

curious to know what you might have said, as i didn't see it...
