Sorry for the loss. Lost an engineer goby the same way a couple of months ago. I have a lawn mower blenny that gives me regular heart attacks because he periodically likes to sit on top of my WAVs. I keep imagining his swishy tail getting sucked in.

I'm strongly considering switching power heads after this. Do you think the smaller openings on your WAV pumps would prevent most fish from getting in?

My buddy just pickedup the wav powerhead, never even acknowledged this topic when getting them for him but looks to be maybe a clown goby, or something like a pipefish can get inside. Other then that I don't think any other common aquarium fish can get inside
So sorry for your loss

Sorry man for your loss, my longnose hawkfish sits on top of mp10 and I think one day I’ll find the same thing as you

Will say I stopped using the pulse mode on the WAV. The sudden on, sudden off mode just seemed like an invitation for a less than clever fish to get sucked while picking off algae and stuck on food.

Just ordered these so I don't have to watch a fish get blended ever again. And no more washing sponges either which is nice. Got them from Anemone Protection Guards on facebook.

Nice!! Again sorry about the fish. Loosing a midas blenny was a tuff one for me.

I have the Apex wav pumps. I have a tail spot that like to go in them when they are off to help clean them :/ I have not blended him, yet. I have however blended 2 BTA's with the wav's which I was not happy about..

This is one of the reasons I use a ramp up and down setting instead of off and on, also less wear and tear on the pump as well. I had a Tailspot that would sometimes swim into the PH during feeding, I had to look for him first before turning them on.

Yeah, there's something about a midas blenny that makes it even harder. They have so much personality and just seem aware more so than other fish.

Had a tailspot do the same thing. Loved that little guy to.

Sorry to hear that - losing my tailspot would have put me in a similar panic. I have a tailspot that always tries to get in as well. My royal grama and an occasional anthia does also.

I've had this happen three times and it is unfortunate. Recently with a Picasso clown in my MP40 and a Tail spot blenny with an MP10. I've had the same thing happen to another clown with my Neptune WAVs also.

Oh no, that's terrible. But thanks for sharing. Hopefully if enough people share their losses we'll see a redesign of the pump screen to prevent more deaths.
