I've been to the Critter the past two weekends and several times over the past few months and have, to this point, never heard them giving advice just to make a buck. I've heard them on several different occasions talk people out of buying livestock because their tanks weren't ready for it or they just simply didn't need whatever the item was. They even told me things to do to save money instead of selling me an expensive item I didn't really need. I'm sorry if you had a bad experience but I don't think it is a store wide issue.

The store in Jackson is great. I stop in there from time to time when I am able to. They always have great looking fish. They are also coral lovers always have great coral. I have never had a bad experience in below sea level.

I'm sure I might visit the store again in the near future. I was just upset at a few things. I'm sure I'll end up buying some things there that I might need. I'm sure, like most when it comes to purchasing corals it's an impulse buy.

Sorry again if I upset some of you

Thank you for that! I'm excited to visit that store soon !

Franklin aquarium petshop is in Columbia. The one in Spring Hill was fins of franklin. Franklin Aquarium is a nice little store, but I wouldn't make a special trip for it. They don't really have any coral I would be interested in. They have about 3 20 gallon tanks for coral and probably about 10 coral. The fish are nice, but nothing you won't see anywhere else. The prices are pretty good. Little cheaper than critter, but it doesn't have a lot of reef specific supplies. If you're in the area check it out. But as far as your go to reef shop, no.

I appreciate that thank you !

Also, I have heard of a pretty nice store in Lexington Tn although u have not been there myself. There are also several shops in Knoxville. I am a big fan of The Coral Reef which is owned by Sustainable Aquatics, and Aquatic Marine. I know there are a couple in Memphis as well but I have heard that they are over priced as well.

I will say, you should give the Critter another shot. I have too been in on occasions where I was less than pleased, but have also had very nice shopping experiences there. As others have said they do support the club a great deal and to me I will pay a little more from time to time because of that. Please don't feel that the members here were being shameful for speaking bad of your experience. Everyone has there opinion. But, in general we all support the critter regardless of prices because of there generosity to the club and their members. Happy Reefing and hope to see you at the next MTRC meeting.

Thank you for that info and insight !

Yes... sometimes some bad advise is given. But as a whole they have a very good store at the critter. Definitely worth a few more visits before you judge. The fish store business is a tough road and involves a lot of costs. Chris has been very successful and gives back generously to our club.

OMG I get it already. Geeze!! I understand they give back to the club. Wow can't believe everyone is taking a little criticism to heart.

Sorry for giving my 2 cents.

It won't happen again. I'll just keep my mouth shut when it comes to that LFS or others in this state. And when someone else is to ask about a specific LFS I WONT give any input

I have apologized enough.

hey guys i would like to check out both stores in the nashville area. can anyone let me know where they are located so i can buy some corals?not alot to choose from here in huntsville al. thanks

To me the critters is the best store we have and those guys are really helpful I never had a bad experience with them but remember not every one in this hobby do things the same way some people might give advices that have worked for them and not for you and that does not mean they are bad advices. Also I don't mind paying more for something I can go get locally the same day specially when an emergency happens.
