Need advice on birdsnest coral

id seriously question your test kit then.

.3 to 0 requires some major intervention
I've tested my phosphates many times. I've never got a reading above .03 with the salifert test kit.
I've had the test kit for a couple of months now and being that it came from BRS I thought it's a bad one. its not expired either.

your original post reads 0.3. not 0.03.

you are fine on po4 with your clarification then.

I credit my algae scrubber :-) and my weekly water changes. Nitrates are still high 20ppm but I do have 13 fish in my system. And I feed 2 times a day.

Both are stressors to birdsnest or any sps for that matter. To be completely honest though , you may be just over thinking this one. The birdsnest colonies that I have had over the years are extremely hardy and can take alk swings and dirtier water much better than most other sps.

As Russ said , birdsnest are pretty hardy and forgiving in dirty water.

If you're in SoCal , I'll give you some birdsnest / stylo frags to try . If not, I'm sure someone will hook you up with some free sps frags to try :)
That's a cool reply!

Pink Birdsnest, one of my favorite.
Less light it will become nice red/pink.

If too high in light, it will grow too dense which causes issues as the colony matures.
Medium flow will do the job.

If it whitens out with polyps fully expanded, it is my warning signal of low Strontium.

How long have you been running your scrubber ? How high where your nutrates before installing the scrubber?
I've been running it for about 3 months now. My nitrates were at 50 with salifert and now it's I. The lower 20's but I am starting to doubt my test kit a bit. It just seems too high

I thought this seriatopora turns yellow fleshed if under too low of light? Mine used to be a nice pink, and I moved it lower and now the skin is almost rainbow like?
