I would go right to a LFS or even a Petco and buy water already mixed. With a 20 it shouldn't break the bank.

I am using this one with some pretty nasty well water and it works great. Start there and then down the road you can add a brs single for the di resin. Obviously the more expensive ones will work better. Do you know if you have chlorine or chlorimines? I believe the chlorimines need a different filter. Brs has a good video on RODI on YouTube.

I will mention somethings that have already been said but.
Definitely eliminate your source water as a cause for problems, often times its as simple as that.

- Grocery store distilled water is a much better alternative to tap
- LFS store water can be great or ok but almost always a better alternative to tap
- I used that aquatic life rodi and have 240ish tds tap into it and the di resin, exhausted after about 50 gallons, i'm not saying thats always whats going to happen but in my case it did.
- I currently use the BRS 4 stage with an extra DI resin, and the first DI is still 70% unchanged in color after 150 or so gallons.

If you haven't put carbon back in use yet, be sure to do that now. The stress from the high salinity can absolutely push things that were on the edge over. When you start with one death and released toxins, that can spread and snowball. Water changes with good water and carbon should help. It may be counter intuitive, but a smaller volume of water is much more difficult to manage than a large one. There is some safety with a larger tank if you can go that route. Rather than quit, I'd say double down and go big if you can!

I would also advise you to search and see if you have a local reef club. If so, joining it could put you in touch with people locally who could take a look and assist you directly. Local clubs are tremendous resources for information, help, and cheap used gear!

Yeh, my town water comes in at a TDS of around 50

I’ve looked into and my lfs over charges for SW and no local petco has saltwater

You'll be better off buying a suitable RODI filter than buying water, but, with a TDS of 1,000 I would use it for ATO top off only & look at a no regular water change method.

Only do 2 water changes a month.

Fyi our glacier machines here locally only drop the tds of the city water by less than 100. It will remove a lot of crap but most of the organic solids remain unless its ran thru a deionizing bed. The tds in my area is around 300.
Another thought...do you have any water stores around your area? Theres like 5 here in town but only 2 have DI water available. I switched from the glacier machine @$.35/gal to the water stores 0-1ppm DI water for $.15 more

Also that much concentration going into your tank via your source water, it wouldnt hurt to do a major water change.
Empty to 20% and refill with a good mix with DI.
That will reduce your concentrations to 20% of what you started with and not harm anything.
