Need advise on a return pump for a 40G Breeder

Oh yeah, you can't imagine how much I'm been learning on this forum about saltwater before became a member. I been keeping freshwater fish for about 30 years but the saltwater part of the hobby is another new world. I'm glad I found this forum cuz other hobbyist help me to make the right decisions and see the different choices.

Sure! I got a really good sale at Doc Fosters and Smith with the return pump and 2 wave makers. They are all controlled on one remote. I can increase and decrease the flow from the power heads. and return pump. I have a feed mode as well.

Although, some great suggestions have been made, everyone is tossing suggestions without asking any questions.

Most importantly is how much head pressure we're looking at (distance/hight from the location of return pump to where it enters your tank). The more head pressure you have the less flow enters your tank. On top of that different pumps handle head pressure differently.
Just for example sakes and not actual figures... An Eheim pump rated for 500gph at 3ft head pressure may get you 300gph as it enters the tank. Yet at 4ft head it may only give 200gph. And a Mag Drive rated at the same 500gph may have 450gph at the same gph.
