need help deciding if I should evacuate fish

That’s impressive! They sure are hardy fish! If you have a quarantine tank you could put them in there.

Stay safe

Well clowns are hardy AF IMHO so if you can even get them in a 10 or 20 while you sort things out I would. Glad to hear you and yours are well. Stay safe.
My biocube is my only tank and I don't have any others to put them in.

I had to have two of my clowns live in a home depot bucket for a week. A heater and an air stone was all there was and they were fine. We drove for 12 hours from California to Idaho. The last several hours were through a white out and the entire trip we were swapping the heater for the air stone because the inverter wouldn't power both. During the move my tank cracked in the back of my truck which led to me keeping two clownfish in a bucket for a week. Terrible move and long pointless story but don't worry about keeping your fish in a bucket for a bit.

Salinity is 1.025 but we still need to fill the tank more and I don't have any fresh or saltwater prepared. I also haven't been able to do a water change for awhile

Can you run some carbon to remove any smoke related toxins? Smoke has a lot of toxins!

I would just make sure to keep the tank aerated. Don’t be in a rush if everything is alive. If water level is too low, don’t worry, don’t add too much freshwater all at once, just keep powerheads running and when you can get some salt water to top off the tank

are you near watsonville CA? Are you able to make water?
we are in cupertino an hour and a half away from home and we might not be able to get to the house tomorrow to top up the water with saltwater

I am in watsonville, so if you need some water let me know. RO or salt. However I wouldn't be able to do a wellness check for you. PM if I can help.

I would take the fish with me. A single pair of clowns would be easy to care for in a hotel. Distilled water from walmart and salt from petco + you could pick up a sponge filter and biospira from petco too.

I would worry you wouldn't get back often enough and the smoke would eventually kill them.

If you think it's possible to move the fish then we have a friend who is willing to take the fish for awhile we just don't know if it might stress them out even more.

I move fish every few years because I rent and moved for school and such.... and clowns are the easiest to move. The longest I moved a tank was 12 hours.

Breeders pack up clowns and bring them to frag swaps and then whatever doesn't sell goes back with them and so on...

People tank transfer fish every 3 days for 2 weeks...

Fish are shipped across the country.

I don't see how moving them is a big deal. Putting them in an uncycled tank and overfeeding and not monitoring ammonia is a big deal but being in a bag... not so much.
