I need help identifying the growth on my rock. It is not stringy and doesn't blow off the rock with a turkey baster. I think it's coraline algae but my husband said coraline algae is purple or pink. So, what is this if it is not coraline algae?

Salty,In the first pic , it looks kinda thick and velvety. I’d feel it with your fingers.
I’m guessing it’s an algae. Like a cotton candy algae.
Yup. Good call. Should also come off with a toothbrush. Corraline won’t.Salty,
Would you use your fingers and see if it scratches off?
