Need help with your aquascape?

It's a shame your changing the tank now. I particularly like the right side as it is now, but the left side would turn out stunning too after a few months of coral growth.

Ha! The left side has had massive coral growth over the years....in this photo it had just been pruned back for the zillionth time. The problem with this system is it was pieced together in the days before reef ready aquaria. Its a simply AGA corner bow sitting on a very light particle board stand. Over the years I modified by adding an overflow and a small acrylic sump that is barely adequate but is the only thing that will fit in the narrow area underneath. Proper skimming has been an issue due to lack of space. Water damage over the years has led to the stand rotting and will collapse sometime soon. Despite its overall success- its time to take it down and move things over where they can truly strive.

I agree though that the scape is appealing given the short-comings of this shape aquaria. I tried to create a canyon effect that does not photograph well. The space between the two structures is long, deep and irregular and is very pleasant to look at. When the corals are at their largest the left structure towers and gets large toward the back of the tank.

Yes that bridge doesn't look very natural. Since you're at the beginning of the process, I would start exploring other options without adding more rock.

Looks very good.

The only thing I would try is to change that straight line. It should be easy to do just by changing the orientation of the little rock on top.

What would you think about using that Little Rock to connect the two structures? Or maybe separate it off into that corner to create a 3rd structure? Not at home right now to take another pic.

Hi there. Working on my scape. The right side is pretty much how I wanted it to be but the left is not at all what it will look like, the tank is still cycling. The left side will be much smaller than the right. Debating on whether to do another curve or something more angular. What do you suggest? Thank you.

You can use those branches in the opposite way, to form a tree like shape.

The overflow box is in the way. That’s why I suggested the corner.

It looks good. The whitish rocks stand out but it will quickly change and then they will look as part of the structure.

I like it very much. Oddly enough, I like how that little island in the middle blocks the path between the 2 structures, because it creates 2 paths instead of one.

I was thinking about possibly putting 2 of the pillars together but I do love how there is room to grow the acro colonies together to close the space. This tank is 240 gallons.

The 3 structures are too similar in shape, height and size.

If you want to make it more interesting, you can keep the 3 structures concept, but make them all different. 1 of them can be a single rock.
