Need help with your aquascape?

I would recommend trying to make it less symmetrical and have less strait lines

I would recommend trying to make a cove and build up the back like this

But after all it’s you tank so do whatever you like the most

Aquacaping a corner tank can be challenging. I have the exact same tank minus it being reefready. I drilled mine for an H2overflow to minimize the space a standard overflow takes up. And also drilled it for an emergency drain. Doing the herby style method with gate valve going down to the sump. System had to be dead silent being in the living room. I also painted the back glass. I tried many different scapes and the odd footprint of a corner tank makes it difficult to give it a sense of depth. The first page of this thread has some good ideas on aquascaping corner tanks and cubes. I originally wanted one big arch similar to what you've done, but couldn't make it work. I wanted something that had good flow around all rock structures. And also something that I could vacuum around easily. The final product is an Iwagumi layout of the rocks. Or at least that's what I was going for. There used to be a bridge between the big pillar and the rock to the right of it. I took it out one night while moving things around and it really opened things up. I kind of liked the look, so I left it out. So as of right now it's laid out like this. Pillar in the back is 17 inches tall. Next smaller rock to the right is about 2/3rds of that. Next smaller rock front left is 2/3rds of that. I also tried to avoid any right angles. Coral placement has been challenging. I'm still not sure if I'm happy with it. I'm anxious to see what your final scape looks like.

ok i have a few tank to redo. This is what they look like now.

Now i have to do something.
I was thinking of removing the zebra stone(bottom pic right side) and replacing it with the dragon stone.(middle pick) the top tank i want to add a waterfall with that same decor style. White sand!

You know I find it amazing that you can move one rock an inch or rotate one structure a couple of degrees and get a completely different look. Or maybe I'm just crazy like that. And then the corals grow in and it doesn't seem to matter as much. I'm a terrible OCD aquascaper. Matter of fact, changed it up tonight slightly. Kinda sucks having the limited space. Last tank was a 140. Then one before that was a 240. Life happens and I'm content with my little nano corner tank. Just glad to be back in the hobby on a smaller scale!!!

I’ve got the same OCD aquascape I just can stop changing it. I love nano tanks but I love tangs and it just frustrated me so much when all I wanted is a tang but I just couldn’t get one but I have upgraded to a 300 litre

I think that looks really good but I would recommend to move the island on the left side back from the glass butt it might be a bit hard to clean the glass with it how it is

Less rock may open it up a little more, but it may be hard to get height in that size tank. A couple rocks could be broken up too to have more options.

Here is the first draft of my aquascape. I have a picture of the whole thing then one of the left, right and center. I also have a picture of the side view of each side. The green tape on the wall is the top of my tank. I still have plenty of rock left over so let me know if you see any available upgrades. I plan on cramming this full of corals. Mixed Reef for sure .

If you have some more boulder rocks you should replace some of the plate rocks on the right side and maybe add some more height differences along the top because all the rock mostly stops at the same height

I had to downsize from a 36 bowfront to a 20-gallon, so I have a *lot* of rock. I can't 'see' what should go where well, and I want enough live rock to help filter, but also like some of the more open designs. I have mostly small frags and I try to make some low, mid, and high areas for them. I just can't seem to find an arrangement that 'clicks. Right now I am 'committed to three of these pieces. The one on the left is 'L'-shaped and really looks cool by itself and has some nice holes. The one on the right is Cyphastrea encrusted, and the one right by it but towards the back has some zoas attached directly to the rock. I probably have this much rock set aside for the day I can get a bigger tank. I have not had much luck with reef putty and such, so I stack naturally.

I would recommend if you can without the rock collapsing removing some of the rock near the bottom I make some bridges and you can place some of that rock ontop to make give it some more varied height in the tank. Also to make an open design you don’t need putty or glue as I have used nothing to stick my rock together and I have rock stacked straight up on the right side and a bridge connecting the two structures together. Also the bridge is two pieces of rock that are pushing against each other to stay up

How's this? I know the gaps aren't as large as yours, but I wanted stability, and I only have 20-l space to work with. I also wanted to be careful about removing too much rock that has been in this tank and replacing it with rock that's been in a bucket under the house for a couple of months and risking a mini-

cycle or worse.
