What do you guys reckon of this aquascape as I’m not sure if I like it yet and I want to have some sense of depth wit I am struggling because of the central overflow and also the tank doesn’t go very far back

Here's a suggestion. That rock on the top right could placed somewhere in the back.

Move the little rocks to the left to create an open area.

I am putting my first tank together, but it isn't quiet ready to put live rock in yet. I have been playing around with my rock and this is one of my favorites that came out. The cardboard represents the tank footprint. Also, the tank is 25" in height and the structure is about 17" in height. What do you think?

Getting that tiny rock out will open up an open area to help balance the whole layout.

The left structure is a bit too boxy. That being said, when corals grow on top of that, it will have a more irregular and natural contour. I would keep it as it is.

To make that structure less 2D looking, just try moving that little rock on the right to make it part of the structure.

You have rocks with different sizes which can allow for many interesting configurations.

The main problem I see now is that it looks too flat. As the tank is in its early stages, it's easy to try different options without much trouble.

Take a look at the videos I posted in the first post of this thread for some guidelines.

Cool, Thanks! The only question I have is, I was looking at maybe getting a soft coral that spreads, that is why I had that little island out there. Is it worth doing that? Or do you have have a better idea on how to do that?

You could move that rock from place to place. As corals grow, that empty sand area will become more and more important.

Getting back into the hobby and wanted to go the extra mile and aquascape something unique with my old dry rock. Wife loves it, but feel like I overdid it. Tank is a Nuvo 40 AIO from IM. Top of structure is 12 inches, tank is 19 inches. I want to do softies and some LPS. Tank will be in a corner and will be viewed from Left side and front (view able dimensions its kind of a rectangle) . Already glued some of the pieces before I found this thread. Hopefully didn't mess up too bad !!! Thoughts/Suggestions?

I would open up the centre of the tank with that scape.

So put the island against the glass and underneath that big rock? Would it be OK being so close to the glass on that side?

Can you tilt it and lean it against the rock?

I couldn't just lean it because it would hit glass, but I rearranged the rock towards the glass. Is this any better?

I think if you just removed the circled rock and pushed the remainder up against the structure, it would look much more natural. The two high points are too similar now.

Otherwise....pretty good!

Amazing thread Ardeaus. I have a reefer 170. I think that a one rock aquascape looks fine. What I like from the rocks that I have is the height. Initially I though to fit the two, but it lookj extremly cramped. So probably only one. Any thoughs/recommendations/critics?
