Hi everyone, soo I have this 75g 48x18x24 ( maybe actually 80 gallon?) I’m trying to find a stand that would work..
I found someone with a 92g Versa Cade Stand 47.5x19 I’m not sure if it will support the tank due to the half inch missing on the length and the case tanks are rimless vs my tank has a rim , any thoughts?! Will this stand work for the tank or is it disaster waiting to happen ?

Although it should work, place A piece of plywood 48”x18” on top to offer full seating of tank

There's no reason to Buy a stand that you immediately have to modify. You throw a piece of plywood over that stand with an overhang and it's going to greatly diminish the look of the stand. I would say try to find something that fits your actual dimensions or build.
Ye that’s my issue as well , I definitely wouldn’t add any plywood on top would look bad lol

I wouldnt want to do it even with rimless, but especially with a rimmed tank all the weight is on those edges i would definetely not use it.
Thanks for this ,
I’m no longer standing on the edge to buy it lol
It looks like my options are as follows

That's a pretty standard tank size. Can you ask a local aquarium store to order you a stand?
Gonna try to go to another lfs tomorrow and see what can be done , unfortunately wood is apparently super expensive rn and I’m trying to keep it under 400$. The one store I went to , the owner bought a CAD warehouse so he has tons of stands lol

Thanks ! I would have ordered it from there sadly it’s not available , I’ve found it on fishtankusa for 300 so if nothing else pans out I may have to do that
Look on the Facebook marketplace, R2R classifieds, local Craigslist, etc.

Is your tank drilled? Do you plan on a sump? The first picture you posted won't hold a sump. The 2nd one might. The big box store stands that I have seen (and I have looked specifically for this for my own needs) won't. Price vs usefulness comes into play here. If it's cheap, but won't house your equipment, it's useless. Custom cabinetry is the way to get exactly what you want, but it will not come cheap.

Yes it is drilled with the corner overflow , I would like a sump but I kno that first stand would not work with one which would be ok, I could use a canister filter and my hob skimmer. Definitely not ideal but it’s what I’m working with

OK.. now here comes into play the scenario of "rushing". How many times have we seen the advice "Patience is key"?

I would be the last person ever to advise against a canister filter. I run 2 on my own 55g tank. But, with that said, I feel that you are attempting to settle for less than you really want, in an attempt to get something NOW.

Are you trying to convince yourself that you will be happy with what you do just to get it done, or are you trying to band-aid a problem you know you will later have to fix correctly?

My opinion, do it right the first time and be happy.. even if you have to wait a little longer to save up what it costs.

Don't start a new build with "not ideal". Even with an "ideal" setup you're going to find things you wished you'd done differently. No need to start out that way.

Not only would it look like garbage, you've now got the Weight of your tank sitting on or outside the margin of where it needs to be supported...
Holy crap. Please do not put plywood on top of the stand if the stand is not the dimensions of the tank and set then weight on the edge of the plywood. That was a horrible suggestion. 1/2 way full of water and the stand would be in the tank. Not thinking you want that kind of aquascape lol.

All I can say is wow at the suggestion for a piece of plywood. Not to mention that the tank is probably not exatly 48x24, as the trim usually adds a little.

1- Take actual measurements. Stated measurements can be off.
2- What’s the issue with accommodating a sump? You definitely want a sump. Even if you have to Tetris in a sump that’s fine.
