I used to keep large schools of them without issue, both personally and in clients' tanks. Nowadays they come in with Uronema, kill each other off, etc. Also, back in the day I would get CBB & Longnose (from QM) that ate flake 24-48 hrs after receiving them.

My pet theory is certain fish are being more commonly sourced from different parts of the world now.

Twil, thanks for the tips. I am going to set a second tank up. Not really a fan of losing fish. You become attached! Poor Frank and Dean! [emoji24]

Hi can you tell me what uronema is?
This would be interesting to know as chromis are almost given a certain death when introduced.
I think this information would be pertinent to the OP

Its common to loose 50% of chromis introduced.
I think the emerald was a loss either to acclamation or chemistry.
How big was he and how long has he been in the tank?
