Need some help with my zoas

this is weird. im kinda stumped. try to lower your saline level first. dont do anything drastic like with lighting or anything. your fine right now with that. i think at least. adter a week go a deff route stay the same saline level. But try flow. or do it at the same time its okay.

What is your Ph? If its getting too high during the white light cycle it could be the culprit.

yes ive been stumped for a while , only thing i can think of is this saline level . only thing imma do next is drop it to 1.025 and keep it there for a while and see what happens. but i some times dont think its that cause everything else is doing perfect , even my Sps is branching out like crazy. this is why im asking on here for opinions and ideas.

thanks so much for your input though, it might just be salinity

i never really check PH cause its always in check, i last checked it about 2 weeks again in mid day when whites were on and if i remember correctly it was around 8.1-8.2

hey guys, so i got my salinty in check now for about a week and still no improvement they are doing the same. im close to giving up on zoas.

I was in the same situation, they would never stay open (and I have a ton of zoos), running photon48 at for sunrise/sunset at peak of like 50/30. I recently kept the same lighting time but dropped super low to like 30/15 peak max and everything has started to open. I'm slowly raising 3-5% a week until I hit my target peak. give it a shot, it worked for me

i was kinda thinking maybe to much light intensity but then i see other tanks that have them under metal halides and they are doing great . i doubt my lights at 65percent blue and 40 white is more intense then a metal halide. its weird cause im getting great growth and when they do open colors look great but they dont maintain open and striving like i see some peoples zoas

i bought a 1 polyp rasta zoa about 7-8 months ago and its going on its 8th head spreaded. also have some mohawks that i bought with about 5 heads now its a colony of about 20 polyps, growth and colors are there just dont stay open throughout the day

That is very slow grow,I had rasta was 8 polyp bought in,3-4 month it come up 30 pp.
I use radion 30% color ,100% blue, 20%white low flow.
Run star blue 7am-11pm
Color. 9am-9pm
White. 10-8
Zoa grow very healthy ,stay open all daytime

other people might have brighter intensities but your corals need to acclimate. it has worked for me in reducing the led intensity and now I'm slowly ramping back up. it's worth a shot at lesst
