Need some more advice!!

Unfortunately I do not have a nitrite kit anymore. I just test nitrates :/.
If it is an API nitrate test, you can use it to test for nitrites. It won't be accurate but since you are looking for a zero test reading it would work.

I usually leave a crack to let the gases escape out
I would be more worried about oil/gas/pesticide fumes getting in than gasses escaping. At least that would be a concern if your garage is anything like mine.

I mix everything in my apartment haha.. and I use no candles, air fresheners, and clean everything pretty much with vinegar water

Lol. A lot of folks done clean it at all.
I switched from bleach to peroxide for Light cleanings.

Vinegar is used for carbon dosing. It feeds bacteria. Doesn’t make it any less popular for cleaning by reefers.

I also clean my ato from time to time as well. The pumps and hoses will get a bit slimy to touch on occasion.

So today looks a little less cloudy “calmed nerves” I got 10 gallons here mixed up... I usually change water on sundays. How do you recommended I store it ? I got a pump in there stirring it. Last time I let it go for two days with a pump it built up like a brownish bubbly film almost. And I tossed it. Should I just cover the barrel with no circulation???

Brownish? Maybe it is RED-ISH? Maybe a high iron content? Are you using RODI? Was the pump submersible? Maybe rusting pump innards?

It’s a return pump and this was a few months ago. I didn’t think nothing of it cause the temp was so high and had been mixing for a few days so I thought a fluke.. And yes I’m using a rodi unit. Only a 4 stage though. I plan to switch to a 6 stage. When I start working. But tds out of the rodi is 0 as well as nitrates. I’m new to the hobby so my buddy only gave me the bare essentials I need to start... none included a iron test kit [emoji15]

Glad it all cleared up.
With regards to the goby, if he had passed the hermits would have probably taken care of it. Just an FYI. I thought o have a goby who hides mostly and I fear he’s dead then he pops out for a spell.
Good luck, tank looks awesome
