Neighbors think I'm growing POT!!

Well was relaxing this morning and I got a call from my landlord! I live on the second floor condo and I have a 10 gallon in my bedroom(led lighting 20k)
And 90 gallon in the living room(15-20k LEDs) landlord says to me " the condo association thinks your growing pot, they see the light from your bedroom just wanted to let you know they are watching you!" I have read a few threads about this happening on other forums.... Anyone have this happen to them? Oh I'm growing green stuff.... It's called green slimer acropora!!

I read a news article of a fish keeper (I think it was a FW guy) getting raided by the police... I think they destroyed a lot of his stuff and he never got back into the hobby =(

(If someone could find a source, I would appreciate it-- I can't find it)

Seriously tho, I take it your landlord knows about the tanks and what the light is from? If not I would recommend letting them know/ showing them even.

I know the feeling tho, Since we bought the house (paid cash) not even 2 yrs ago, I have owned 5 different vehicles (currently a tahoe on rims, and the wifes yukon lol), I have a pit/boxer mix and a cane corso mastiff/pit mix, am home 90+% of the day, I live on a main road and the light used to pour out of my house front and back (lessened since switching to LEDs), cops always stare at the house when they drive by, every time...They have actually stopped by a couple times on b.s. like heard there was a dog running lose that matched description of one of mine, funny tho cuz it was in my fenced in yard waiting at the gate when they pulled in but still proceeded to approach my home and knock, tanks right there tho so it was pretty clear what the light was from...... but the guy 2 houses down who really does grow in his barn, nothing lol

lol my landloard is my mother in law when we first moved in the neighbors called her to ask her how well she knew us because of all the traffic in and out of my house, we must be selling drugs. she told them it was her daughter that lived here,and I was selling frags. they came over and asked what kind of "frags" I had for sale. when I showed him my tank he shut the tape recorder in his pocket off and left. he moved out 2 months later

If they raided and didn't find anything sounds like one heck of a lawsuit to me.... maybe he didn't fully get out, he just switched to SW lol

One of the ladies in our club got a visit from the police one evening shortly after she started her reef. Just a knock, no doors broke down because a neighbor who complains about everything made a call. She invited them in, showed them the tank and lights and got no more visits. The officers thought the tank, corals and fish were cool.

Years ago when I had 2 400w mh running on a 300g fw tank, I had the power company come by with the cops. They said it was a "power consumption audit". Wonder if the cops always ride along on those? Funny things was, they came in and saw the fish tank and said oh ok. And turned and walked out. It happens although probably a lot less with all the new LEDs.

Yeah the landlord knows I told him about it today! Heck half my neighbors have seen me either carrying a tank or plumbing while wearing my work shirt (bulldog reef) work at a LFS part time! I would love for the accuser to stop
By and talk to me( a reason to talking about reefing) so I can show them my tank! My gf is really into yoga and incense and oils... I can imagine now blue lights weird smelling smoke rolling
Out the windows wow never thought of this, I smoked a few years back but would have never guessed this!!!

It was like 2 years ago, so I'm fuzzy on the details.
Also, sometimes people just don't feel like going through the courts =/

I had Police looking in my windows during Halloween Trick or Treating at an old house. This time the tank is placed right between 2 windows, which are open most of the time, shouldn't be a problem.

HAHAHAHAHA SAME THING HERE!!! I have a 400 watt halide hanging from the ceiling, you can see it for 3 blocks. I play music and have alot of frag sales as well.
When I first moved in there was a home made "Tobacco water Pipe" that was impressively large in my basement from previous tenants....no i did not touch it lol. THe LL came by and smashed it though, and blamed me for it. what a weasel. Since then I have made it a point to draw as much attention as I could to the house. I nstalled a koi pond outside that has a fountain that is louder than my neighbors harley. I added the Reef tank. I started shaving dogs in my house, and I sell frags now. If only he was a better land lord...OH well, deed to the new house signed!!! Now to start off right with the neighbors. Maybe even ask them to help me. I have 6 flipping reef tanks to move. Ughhghghghgg

I've had the local cops sit in front of my house before, supposedly to deal with "speeders". I live on a dead end road, in a ranching town with only 400 people, I might see 6 cars a day total. We don't have speeders. Of course, the fact that I currently have 8 tanks running, and my house glows like crazy wouldn't have a thing to do with it. Yeah, sure.

Of course, I'm not bashful so I just walked right up to the car and asked him exactly why he was sitting in front of my house. He gave me the line about speeders, and I told him that I sure hoped he wasn't watching my house for no good reason, since my saltwater fish tanks and their lighting were perfectly legal. He looked a bit bashful, said "fish tanks?" and left. Hasn't come back. He should have just come to the door, I am always more than happy to show people my tanks. Of course the 3 100lb dogs in the house might be the reason he didn't feel sociable.

Of course, with my twisted sense of humor, I find this hilarious.
