Neighbors think I'm growing POT!!

There was a couple in our club(TCMAS) that was raided by the cops a couple of years ago. Police got a tip that they may have been running a meth lab IIRC. I think it was a plumber who noticed a bunch of strange chemicals in their house(two part/gfo/etc) and snitched. It happened in the twin cities area and was in one of the papers up there but I don't recall much more than that.
I do find it ironic that we are called "reefers", and that we use the same type of lighting pot growers use. I know I myself also have razor blades and hypodermic needles in my maint. supplies, and I meet people in random places and take cash for what's in my little baggies.

The bulldog reef shirt could have been what got the ball rollin in their mind.... ask pretty much anyone not in the SW world what they think of when they hear reef, reefer, reefing and I bet the #1 answer is pot

Just think of what they'd say if you sold small baggies of 2-part solution mix to a fellow reefer from a bulk package... White powdery or crystallized substance in a baggie looks kind of suspicious. It would be hilarious if they did all the testing and found out it was just soda ash
Dougers31 - I heard about that story too through the papers here. It was said in the paper that someone "reported" containers of chemicals and an overpowering odd chemical smell. The smell was vinegar that caused the smell and the buckets of chemicals was two part solution from BRS. I didn't hear what happened at the end of it though other than all they found was fish tanks... No idea if there was damage to the house or if anything was seized for testing. (Thanks Architect for posting the article. I noticed the post after I sent mine.)
While the premise of police watching our houses due to high electricity usage, excessive light in the blue spectrum, people coming and going from the house, and a wide array of buckets filled with all sorts of chemicals is silly, it is one of those things that more often they are probably watching the right people and helping rid the town of a drug problem. Also if you think about it your home security is a little better as they are always slowing down and paying better attention to your house and activity around it. Carry on officers, carry on, just knock before kicking my door down please...

Still waiting on my visit. I have 3 different rooms with tanks in them glowing through the windows. Those never really worried me, but what does is the basement and garage are on the same level and in the basement I keep my orchid and tillandsia collection. The high pressure sodiums make the tell tale yellowish orange light that cops with any experience are really looking for.
The police are honestly the last of my worries, they are usually polite and knock. I blacked out the only window in the basement and try hard to keep the "greenhouse" presence unnoticible from the outside. I don't worry about someone calling the cops, I worry about teenagers breaking in when I'm not home thinking they hit the mother load only to be disappointed and take out their anger on my Paphiopedilum collection.

There was a time when I had 21 light fixtures with 18 being metal halides and four being t-5's in my house. My electric meter just spun and spun. First thing I did was tell the village what I had going on and told them I had an open door for them any time they wanted to check it out. Just knock. Had the cops over and one time about 30 volunteer firemen when a GFI went bad and almost started my house on fire. I ended up giving reef lessons to firemen that night while my wife and single neighbor down the street were in heaven checking out all the firemen....lol. I do not think there was a single person that lived within a mile of me that didn't know what I was doing. To this day I have never had a problem with anyone accusing me of anything questionable.

The county I live in the Sherriffs Dept has Infrered on their helicopter looking for houses that glow from lights used on growhouses. They have'nt been to my house yet.(Metal Halides) Lol. They have found some crafty individuals that made basements under rented homes to grow their cash crop.
I'm one of the last people who will say pot should be legalized etc, but have any of you folks seen the pics of the pot cave that they found in Kentucky or Tennesse? Very impressive but very bad at the same time.
If it's the one I remember, it is a very impressive cheese aging facility now.

I was asked by an electrician if i was growing weed in my basement before. He was working on installing a generator and saw the eerie blue glow of my halides from the basement. Think he was a bit disappointed to find only an aquarium.

About a year ago I was having problems with my cable so they sent out a technician to figure out what was wrong. I was working and my girlfriend was home and let him in. When he walked into the dining room where my tanks are there was a bag of about a pound of soda ash sitting on top of the digital scale that I use to weigh salt and chemicals. My girlfriend said he did a triple take and didn't really say much after it. She said he was in and out very quickly. Luckily he fixed the cable and didn't call the cops or anything
I sell Chaetomorpha by the ounce. Is that a felony?
