Neptune apex "check tank" light

When I get home tonight I will test with a simple plug in light on my classic to see if it will work if a plug in light works the led setup I posted above with the 12v wall outlet plug should work if you have an opening on your eb8

You can absolutely run something like this off the classic, it just uses one of the outlets with a wall wart power supply to fire up whatever alerting device you wish to use. I have run a piezo buzzer on mine for years (classic and now 2016).

I thought this was something interesting that you can do with the apex and I've never seen it done before.

I have the new model apex not sure how you would go about doing it on the older model. Due to it not having a 24v output. I'm sure its doable and I can look into it if you like.

You will need:
1) 24vdc to bare wire connector from neptune due to the plug that they used

2) a 24 volt led strip what ever color you like will work I used red. MUST BE 24VOLT!!!

All you have to do is connect the led strip to the 24 volt wire plug the other end into the 24v output on the eb832 (it's under the 1 link connector. And that's it.

This is the code I used but you can modify it based on your tank settings.


That's all it takes. Real cheap and real easy about $20-25 and 10min worth of time.

Now if I'm in the living room with out my phone I will still be notified I have an issue

As was mentioned, with a classic, you can just plug the lights into an outlet.
OR, get a 1LINK or FMM - they are compatible with the classic and have 2 24V outlets.

I hooked-up a 120v school / fire bell to my Apex. My tank is downstairs and I was worried that if my main return pump died I wouldn't know about it while sleeping (might not hear my phone notification). Although I am all-in with Apex, I really didn't want to add mechanical flow meters. So instead I have 2 temp probes, 1 in my sump and another in the display tanks. If my main return pump dies, for whatever reason , the display tank temperature will drop and set-off the alarm:

Fallback OFF
Set OFF
If TmpSmp < 76.9 Then ON
If TmpSmp > 78.2 Then ON
If TmpTnk < 76.9 Then ON
If TmpTnk > 78.2 Then ON

$7.99 and you can program it to display different patterns, the one I set is like a police car light …
On the classic you'll need to program an outlet/output on the EB8
I set up one of the outlets on the EB8, called it "Strobe".
Only addition is I have the FMM with a leak detection, so it also activates the strobe in that case.
You'll also need a power supply, these are super cheap [I had one laying around that I wired the LED strobe light to]​

Really neat idea, I wonder if there is a cheap color changing solution you can control with a variable voltage 0-10v port. This would be nice for “gentle nudge” reminders from my apex for general maintenance. I currently use the display from my jr on my 2016 model for alarms. $100 bought separately this is a great value with two audible alarms, parameters display and feed mode control.

Yea I dont know about the color changing I just use the 24 volt on the eb832

Yea it just a red led 24volt strip light from amazon it's only like 10 bucks you can cut to size and its bare wires for the connection

This LED strip has wires on either end. You cut the LED strip to the desired length and connect the end wires to the wires on the cable.

I was told by Neptune (on their forum) that one cannot use 1-Link as power outlet.

The 1Link ports on the EB832 only support specific devices like a DOS or Trident. Even if you could hack just the power connector component, you will still have no way to program it and no tile on the dashboard.

The 2 24VDC ports are controllable and programmable and what you want to use for this kind of thing.
