You just described the Apex - they pushed an update in the last two weeks that is bricking lots of a2s and a3s. But hey we can get a discount on a new one!
For real or just hearsay?

Arent the skys barely 2 years old? I have 2 and never had an issue with them. But i’ve also never seen an apex unit live more than a year. So i’m not optimistic about my investment. No company supports older products forever, particularly small companies. I’ve been dealing with this for years with a lot of my stereo gear. Manufacturers either went out of business or original parts (mostly ICs) are no longer available. I buy up spares where I can, but otherwise enjoy it for what it does on the day you buy it …. and hope it has a reasonable usable life.
I’ve done that with my Radion G4 Pros. Have a couple of spares in the closet. Same with a non mobius MP40. When Neptune discontinues a module I find useful, I also buy a spare (WXM as example).
This is news to me as well...

Oh I see, I recently updated last week and out of the blue yesterday I get an alert from fusion that my apex is offline.![]()
Apex connection issues after latest trident np update
Having some weird connection issues after recently updating last night, I've tried resetting the apex and router. Also power cycling everything, it will connect for a few minutes after reset and then drop off again. Anyone else or any ideas?www.reef2reef.com
A few diff threads going around here. Latest update is bricking things. Im 100% offline now. For what it’s worth they started emailing me late/after hours to give them access so hopefully a fix is in the works. As long as im made whole im all good. But its been a **** show of a product for me.
That’s because this stuff isn’t an investment …. It’s an expenditure. Don’t really know what to tell you about your apex experience. My classic lasted me 4 years and my A2pro lasted 7 (it still works, but the micro SD card died). The only modules I had early issues with were the 832 where the power supply tended to die. Otherwise I’m still running some of the old black colored ones along with some 10 year old energy bars.Arent the skys barely 2 years old? I have 2 and never had an issue with them. Mine is 8 years old (2016)...still running....had a Trident since they first came out (won at MACNA 2019)... it's about to get a DIY service kit for the second time.Arent the skys barely 2 years old? I order mine (3 X Sky lights) last week and receive them today 13 Jun 2024Looking at the BRS website it shows the sky is now discontinued. Link to the sky at the Neptune systems website is also dead.

If they do not reply, that is not a good sign! It’s been two days now with no response from anyone at Neptune on their forum or through a support message I sent off denying the rumor. This doesn’t bode well… it would be so easy to dispel the rumor but the radio silence is essentially confirming it.
It seems like the merger of Neptune and Ecotech may have pushed a solid light out of the market in favor for one with better profit margins and reduced competition in the sector. It’s unfortunate because the Sky was a decent price point for what you get but now the next best alternative is nearly 20% more.
