I remember this several years ago - about the iPhone. No - the mindstream will not be the iPhone lol - But - a lot of people have been burned by 'other companies' with 'more than one product'. Im willing to take a risk on the testing that they offer. I've spent thousands of dollars on 'the other company' - and have not been satisfied. I'm hoping this one will be better.

PS - at one point Neptune was a 'one product company'. Advances only happen when those one product companies become multi product companies. The concern I have with Mindstream - is the patents they hopefully have - to prevent someone else from just copying what they have done.

I have an Apex and two DOS. It’s easy enough to look at MindStream measurements and make an adjustment if necessary. I believe that my Alex and Mindstream will talk in the future anyways.

I don’t get the subscription argument. You need to buy reagents for a Trident...MindStream just sends them automatically. Yes, MindStream reagents (subscription) costs more than Trident. I am choosing to pay more for the MindStream because it measures 10 things instead of 3 and because it measures every 15 minutes. You also need to remember that the Trident needs to be serviced every few years while the MindStream does not. I will not argue that the MindStream will cost more that a Trident over time but I think it is worth the extra cost. I also like the fact that MindStream has no pumps, hoses to kink, calibration, or priming. I have not seen one in person yet but guess that it makes no noise either. I think it is a much simpler unit for the end user.

My MS was shipped in exactly 8 weeks. I have always looked for something that gave me consistent feedback on my parameters so I could then adjust dosages accordingly. Having run a $100m company that sold high end products, I would always go with the slow, thoughtful producers over the quick to market producers.

It be interesting if Neptune has bought the right to this and rebrand this instead of buying it from the creator of Trident which use reagent. This would be a crazy product and probably has more demand than the trident as of now. The buzz of Trident and lack of units forsale is different. People need to trust these new innovations and support it. You can see how simple the Trident is and sell for $600 plus people resell this for $1200.

Not to mention the MindStream has a bunch of other cool test such as CO2 levels in the air. Compare that with PH and it opens some opportunities for optimizing PH levels with kalk, refugium lighting etc. Anyone know if you can you use the MindStream to control items that are IOT capable? Or if the data can be captured with something like a XML? Sure would be simple to make a nice little grafting app and a IOT connector (web service) to turn hardware on and off.

Typical reason I am excited about getting a mindstream…. Noticed my elegans was closed today. Happened to see my tetra disc showing some elevated ammonia in water (far from accurate). Found 3 dead snails (from the smell a few days) and did a 10 percent water change. Everything will be fine. It would have been great to see the ammonia elevating in real time before a spike to find the dead snails before a water change was needed. Just my two cents... Has really taken off perematers has been spot on. No regrets what so ever
My tank has been stable since I hook up the Trident.
It's worth it to wait. IMO

He didn't say better, just what works for him. If you already have an apex, the lure to stay within will make sense for many as they can control their pumps and everything else. I have no desire for automated dosing.

Well - actually - he said 'the trident is worth the wait' - (to me that implies its better to wait for the trident rather than order the mindstream) - thats what I was wondering about - not his tanks - but in general - why wait for the trident over the Mindstream? On the rest - I have an apex - but I have no desire to have it control anything - except when I 'click' the button on the App - thats why I'm fine with the Mindstream. I just wanted his opinion.
