Neptune trident

The "loud" problem is one that Neptune in general doesn't seem to factor into their design decisions. The DOS in particular is far louder than I'd be OK with in my bedroom. Which presents a problem, as I've an IM 40g that I set up in my bedroom about a year and a half ago and have maintained with manual dosing except for ATO up until now. The Tunze ATO pump is loud, and my plan has been to substitute the Neptune ATO system for it, install a DOS for Ca/Alk, and a newly arrived Trident for monitoring. I sincerely wish I could just install the extra shelf that came with the IM's stand and put the Neptune equipment on it for a nice, neat install.

But because of the noise from the DOS (I have several others on other tanks), I'm going to be forced into building a cabinet with acoustic foam on the inside to muffle the noise. This thread was quite useful to me, since I'd been a little on the fence of whether to go to the trouble to build a cabinet, or just run the DOS only during the day.

If Neptune's reading this thread, please know that I (and a lot of others) love your equipment. Except for a few hiccups here and there (such as the gen 1 PMUP), it's high quality stuff that's reliable. But noise abatement, and the ability to turn off indicator lights is a really important design consideration. Ecotech's Versa dosing pumps, for example, are specifically advertised as nearly silent, and I'd guess that was a response to the noise that the DOS pump system makes.

I literally just fill it up with pillows every night

I have the Trident and Neptune Dos in my bedroom. The Trident I can hear when running the tests, but I never hear the Dos which doses all through the night from 12 Pm to 6 Am
