well I was under a rock for awhile and seen Neptune has there new pumps out.... The kit looks pretty nice! And nice that its apex ready and all that jazz... So who here has them? How do they perform compared to mp 60 pumps ? What's there noise level compared to other pumps? Thanks!

I agree, especially when you can get 3 of these compared to the price of one mp60....! I love my eco tech products tho... The mp60 was a game changer and remains on top in my opinion.... I'd like to see a side by side comparison of the 2

There are a few youtube videos out there that show them in action and a review in the forum: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/neptune-wav-pump-the-average-joe-review.211177/ I am planning to get these for my 480gallon or 720gallon tanks that I am building. I figure I can try them on one tank and decide if I want more of them. Can't beat the flow rate at 4000gph each and some of the smart features included. I am also waiting to see when the new gyer 180 comes out to see its flow rating. Since both of my tanks are 8' I figure the wav pumps will do an excellent job with flow.

I've got 3 on my 175g 6ft tank. Love them. I started off with one gyre 150 which could really move water but wasn't moving it in the right way. I added two wav's which did the trick. I then realized what a pain it was having to update two different programs any time I wanted to make a change so I broke down and bought a 3rd to replace the gyre. Now I'm able to program all three at the same time and basically just change the option to have them sync or anti-sync to the master...or if I wanted I could have all three run in different modes. I'll also be able to move one to a 75g that I'm setting up as a QT tank (yep...ich has reared its ugly head) tweak the program a little and I'm set. When I first set them up I had a nice wave rolling across the tank within a couple of minutes.

I have a set. They do put out some good flow and they're nice if you take them out of the water they shut off automatically along with if something gets stuck (ie:snail, debris) they shut off as well. Controllability is pretty nice. Problem I don't like is the cord in the tank and having to take them out of the tank to clean from time to time. The cord connection makes it difficult to since the connection on the 1 link is pretty loose to begin with. My 1 link internals came separated from the housing the first time I unplugged them and plugged them back in. The internal mother board for the 1 link is not screwed into the housing but hot glued with just a dot of glue. So I had to glue each of the corners for it to stay back in place. Design flaw they hopefully fix on future 1 links. Overall I'm impressed with mine so far but I still prefer my Ecotech MP40/MP10's. The wet side is easier to clean/maintenance along with no cords in the tank. Some people don't like the headphone look but if mounted on the back of tank they are about the same other than the WAV's have the option to have different angles set. I know there have been comparisons of the sound db between the two but my Ecotechs are much quieter. Any pulse type mode ramped over 35% on the WAV's and I can hear them across the house. Price point wise the WAV's are the way to go. Especially if you took advantage of the UC corals promo a couple months back. I'm tempted to add a 3rd for more flow.

Awesome help thanks guys! They sound like a good pump! But sounds like then Eco qd are the way to go for me.... I'm all about that decibel level.... :)

They move water but they are too large for small tanks and will stand out. It is best to place them on he back wall and not the sides or they can be an eye sore in comparison if you had less bulkier pumps before like gyres, rw-8, etc..

I have two,one on the back and one on the side, also replaced my gyre 150 because I wanted different water movement.I like them better than my mps rom my old tank because I don't have to deal with getting the magnets to match when removing and replacing and the auto shutoff is nice

I have the Wavs on my 5' 120 and they have been great so far. I feel that they are just as quiet as my rw-8s were but you can hear them ramp up and down if standing right in front of the tank with the TV off. I have never had any MPs but I can tell you they are much quieter than the MP 60s (not sure of the exact generation) my LFS has on their big display tank. I have the Wavs on the back wall of the tank close to the corners and angled towards the center and I have good movement with them maxing out at 40%. I had them on the sides pointing across for a little while and could only run them at 25-30%. I would definitely buy them again for my application as they are much cheaper than the MPs and hide on the back wall very well.

You can see the wave they are creating in the picture along with how well they blend in. I had just fed the tank some frozen food so it is floating around but the return pump is off.

Do you think I would be able to use the Wav on a Red Sea 250? I am setting up my scape. Bought the Wav but this may be the first item I have to return... Still unopened. Thinking of going with two MP10 qds. Have the WXM for the Radion lights so MP10's will work, just wish I could try the wavs out lol. However once its open its yours

Go with the MP10qd.

You might be able to turn the wav down enough to work but at that point the wave modes would not do much so I'm not sure if it would be worth it. If Neptune ever releases a different impeller (rumored on the Neptune forum) then the wav would be great. Otherwise I would think a 4' tank is the absolute minimum I would put them on.

Thank you. So if it were your tank.... One Mp40wqd or 2 Mp10wqd? Want it to work with the apex. The glass is 10mm and the MP10 is rated at 9.5... Still seams to work on other peoples Red Sea 250's.

2 MP10QD I run MP10QD on 12mm thick no problem.

Just set my 2 WAV pumps up and sand in the front blew away completely. Anyone have tips/advice on how to place so this doesn't happen?
