Nero 3: What are you running it at?

The only thing I hate about it is I like to turn off my one power head at night to give fish a little break and the is no setting to turn it for from 8 to 6 am unless I missed somthing

My fish need some peace and quiet time. But my MP10 on Mobius doesn't have a complete OFF mode; all I do is set it to 1% CONSTANT mode during night time. I think you can try it on your Nero 3.

OP, did you ever figure out your settings? I have a similar set up, RS reefer nano so its a cube, I keep the nero 3 in the back corner a little above half way, theres sort of a chink that runs down the nano where the overflow box is and the pump fits nicely in there fore me.

I have mine on pulse at 10%, then goes up to 15, 20 and then random lagoon mode or whatever it is at 25% for 4 hours in the middle of the day, then 20, 15, back to 10 on pulse. I have NO idea how to make it wavier its annoying

Tbh I took down my 15gal and moved my Nero 3 over to my 50gal with a Nero 5. So no, I hadn’t noticed much wave action with just one in my nano. I think if your coral and fish look happy there isn’t too much to worry about.

thanks haha, thats kinda what i realized too. I upgraded from a 4g cube with a dennerle corner filter, no waves at all and everything was loving it. I would like that nice swaying back and forth but true, as long as the creatures are happy

If you are looking for a standing wave 1s on and 1s off will give you this effect. Personally, I run mine like that at night at 45% and random during the lights on at 65%. I have Oolite sand in that tank so that's as far as I can push it without a sand storm.

What size tank? I have a RS reefer nano and 45% is wayyyy to much power I think

I wish they had more setting and options

That setting is in my WB 20 cube.

If i go to 65% everything is blowing around insanely....idk if thats normal I am pretty new. I have clowns, a rainfords, lots of inverts, coco worm and feather duster, torch, btas, and i'm not sure any of them can handle 45 or 65%. how will my clowns sleep at night lol?

No need to run it that high with your current inhabitants. I was just giving an example of how to get the wave action. Go to pulse and turn 250ms on 250ms off. and start at 30% and see how that goes. You can slowly turn it up until you start seeing sand blow and then back it off.

That was my error saying 1s on and 1s off. Sorry.

I kinda have the torch right in front of it , siliconed to the rock ;Facepalm, so thats my limiting factor i guess. could move the nero up a bit but it seems to work better in the middle of the tank.

Are any of you guys having trouble with the pulse setting? I have my whole schedule on pulse, 2% flow with 2sec on and 10sec off but it never actually turns off and pulses. It seems to be constantly on
At 2% flow this would be pushing 40gph. Can it really run that low?
I've been looking for a powerhead that doesn't thrash my corals in my 5 gallon pico and I haven't seen the Nero 3 recommended anywhere.

No it doesn't work that way. At the lowest setting of 1% it's around 600gph or something like that. It has a minimum gph in order to work. I think it may work for your tank though if you keep it low because the flow is really wide and isn't crazy strong in my experience. I've had mine since they came out, maybe 4 months?

I run mine high on the opposite side (same wall) from the return with random flow ranging from 20% to 60%.

To me, the flow coming out of it is very broad so it took some messing with the height, position, and speed for my SPS corals to look like they were getting enough flow. The LPS also looked better with higher flow that was more turbulent (from going against the return) than having it next to the return and creating a big gyre. With the gyre my Goni looked like this:
