Hydrogen Peroxide 35% possible solution with caution and fresh air

same … I solved the issue with a rollermat but following anyway
Not targeted at those not using socks although one might find useful for cleaning other stuff as well as fighting algae and treating diseases and cyano.

HumbleFish has a video on using diluted grade for dips as well as eradicating or lowering diseases in display, too.

I’m just learning more about it now. As with everything. Learn first. Then apply with caution

I'm guessing he's suggesting either dosing your Reef or cleaning your socks with 35% H2O2

Both but obviously at different volumes. Like everything else

Using food grade 35% hydrogen peroxide to clean filter socks
I have a thread somewhere using that stuff; it’s pretty “nuclear” and I nuked my tank, but that’s at my IQ :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:
…anyway just saying that stuff is definitely not the same as the brown bottled 3% drug store grade…
but agree, H2O2 works great if using common sense with caution

yeah I used it in conjunction with Polylabs medic as a ich cure. Problem was I didn’t annotate all the details and protocols so I didn’t exactly go shouting it out as a success/method

you can cop the 35 proof stuff at hydroponic stores…should be more prevalent/easier to find with “legalization” spreading aroun the country

I wouldn’t reccomend this at all! Even if you could acquire the product.. sheesh

Do you understand what it is and its proper application? Here’s one application. What I presented being a more concentrated solution to effectively clean socks. Everything makes sense when placed in proper context but if you wish not to use it then I understand yet others might feel differently about it. Perhaps keep an open mind and fully appreciate vs just knocking it.

add twice the volume to what?
If you buy 15% then add twice the amount of hydrogen peroxide to obtain the same effect. For example. If you need a gallon of 35% then use two gallons of 15% or let it soak longer and just repeat the cycle my guess.

As with everything else we use. Dilute to purpose.

I’m currently testing 3% based on 1ml per 5 gallons every 8 hours according to HumbleFish. Mostly to test toxicity on damsels, Pom Pom macroalgae, cyano, GHA as well as other unknown algae that I seem to have put at bay but might pop up again. Also had Dinos that I fear might return.

Only way to learn is practice and hopefully no big mistakes.

Makes sense. See lots of chatter by those guys on its use. I’d prefer buying the 35% in a gallon and diluted to safer handling % such as 6 or 3%. Volume costs about the same as 15% before the hazardous surge charge since you’re mostly paying for distilled water. Just handle and store with caution and I need to get a better grasp on duration once the cap is popped and bunch of bottles filled. Might not be pragmatic. Might still be cheaper to buy a bunch of one liter bottles.

lol…. You know who started the whole h202 dosing in a reef tank? Me!!! Many many years ago! Go ahead look it up? H202 the new reefing tool! Your claim is hideous saying never clean socks again! You’re still pulling your sock and cleaning it rather it be bleach, h202, citric acid or what ever you wanna use! You still have to clean your sock… trying to source 35% peroxide is crazy and not needed for any reason in a reef tank… I’ll let @Randy Holmes-Farley do the science side of it..

I’m not literally saying one never cleans socks again. Seems common sense I’m suggesting an alternative solution with hydrogen peroxide. Title for clicks. Didn’t occur to me I would have to literally explain that.

No clue who you are or what you’ve introduced before therefore not sure why act as if I should have but if you are the creator of this idea then why all the push back vs perhaps informing us how best to apply it and links to your own discoveries so we can all learn from it?

BTW, I can source it from Lab Abby and so can you therefore why say it’s crazy? It’s literally available in pallets.

I’d suggest we redirect this energy to having a constructive conversation that helps inform all vs a side show type exhibition. Too early in the morning for drama and I’m genuinely trying to help the community and myself by advancing what I’m learning even if it was already discuss since I don’t know everything that has ever been discussed since the beginning of reefing or anything else for that matter. Just seeking knowledge. Can you help?
