NeveSSL's 180g Mixed Reef

I'm using two 3/4" returns.

dangit Brandon! get some windex on that glass! so gross!

Haha! I'm not OCD enough to clean it right now. Planning on cleaning it when I do a freshwater test. :)

Got some more done. My brother has been a huge help.

We put two coats of Kilz Premium on the exposed OSB to give it some protection. May put a glossy coat of some paint to help with salt creep clean up over this if we have some, but I'll have to check. I also moved the RO/DI to the other side of everything since I'm having to move the sump to the left to be under the center of the tank. I got all of my Spa Flex drains cut to size and got the hole started in the wall, too.

This doesn't look like much, but it was several hours of work. :) Also picked up an inexpensive LED light at Bargain Hunt for $20. Should be perfect over the 20g refugium I have planned and is the right color spectrum, or at least closer than reef LEDs. Its a BeamsWork 400 LED light. Not bad for $20!

More to come tomorrow...

Now that I look more at that picture, I realized I plumbed the output of my RO/DI into the drain... that's not going to work! Haha! I'll fix that tomorrow.

Brandon

Exactly! Good thing I quit when I did or worse mistakes may have been made. Haha!

Brandon

Haha! Me, too, Dave.

Got a bit more done today. First off, fixed the RO/DI. :loco:

Also got most of the plumbing through the wall finished and the tank moved back.

.

I also picked up the wood to frame out my "platform" (for lack of a better word) that will be going above the sump and will hold my 40 breeder frag tank, a dedicated refugium if I do one, and probably my salt mixing Brute. I'm not 100% sure that's what I'll put up there, but that's what sounds good at the moment. :) The good thing is that the dimensions won't change either way, so I'm good to build it tomorrow and then figure the rest out.

We will also be putting a utility sink in the garage, most likely directly next to the sump. To the right of that will be my RO/DI water. Should be a great setup! My goal is minimum maintenance and what little I have to do, I want it to be convenient and easy to do so I'll actually do it. :D

I'll have more tomorrow if all goes well.

More to come tomorrow!

Haha! Thanks, Rick. I'm going to come close to using the whole roll. Wasn't terribly expensive, though... worth it, IMO. I got 50' for $65 shipped... it would have been almost $150 for the same amount from Lowes!

Its funny... my original plan was to run 3/4" braided hose from the garage to the tank, but it ended up being a lot cheaper to just run spa flex and split it to 3/4" at the tank instead.

Thanks, Rob!

A bit more progress today, as promised. :)

My brother has helped A LOT with this build, as is demonstrated in this pic:

Finally got it built.

And over the sump.

Still have several adjustments to make and I will also be Kilzing it, but its really exciting to make it to this point! I've got to figure out how I want to plumb it, but that should be gravy after all of this. :)

I can't wait to get this thing running!!!!!
