New 40 Breeder build

What over flow did you use on it? I am going to be drilling mine so and can't decide on a overflow. I had planned on going bean animal style and for ease of plumbing I thought it might be easier to use one with a box on the back and with two bulkheads through the glass.

I went to glass holes.com and bought the 700 gph overflow with 2 returns. It came with the cutting bits, bulk heads, and loc line and flare noses. I opted not to buy their package deal which included the plumbing because it was all soft line and I am going to hard plumb it. Total cost was around $130 for what I got

And don't be scared to drill, this was my first time and it was a piece of cake

I painted the back of the tank black so they would blend. And they do, you can hardly see them.

I originally went with the same setup (40b, glassholes 700gph overflow) except I did a return over the back. Never got up and running before I upgraded but I did get it filled with water and that overflow is awesome. Pretty dang quiet!

That is pretty nice @hig789 kinda reminds me of the ghost overflow. I do believe that glass holes is coming out or has come out with one similar

Yeah there are a few out there like them, a few on eBay also. Not as slim as a ghost but it is cheaper. Just wish someone would make a smaller sized one for smaller tanks. I don't need 1500gph haha. Guess it can't hurt anything though.

Letting it dry overnight then water test and plumbing tomorrow. It's getting close!

Great build so far! makes me miss my first tank which was also a 40b. I went with the same concept as well.

Can't wait til you get it wet.

Hig I got it off of eBay for 13.99. It's 1/4 inch acrylic and is very strong. Cheapest thing I have s new build lol.

Plumbing is done! Would have been a little easier if I used 90 degree elbows but I went with 45s instead. Time to mount equipment

Nice. My glass is getting cut for my baffles tomorrow. Stand looks nice and clean.
