Good clarification. I just couldn't come up with the word for it.Any kind of calcium based sand.

Define "regular sand". If "regular sand" is play sand, I'll argue to the end of the earth against it. I've used play sand and had constant algae problems, as well as the ugly brownish color. Now, if "regular sand" is the same thing as live sand, minus the nitrifying bacteria, I won't disagree. But that's kinda like being from East Tennessee and saying "Grab me a coke." "What kind?" "Dr. Pepper."
Any kind of calcium based sand.
I personally like the larger grain sands myself.
