Hello reef2reef!
I have been a lurker for about a week?
I will be entering the saltwater world with a used 180 gal display, and 40gal sump. The tank comes with lots of live rock, 2 unknown large fish, some LPS, too many mushrooms, purple coraline, and aiptasia(sp?). There is likely more that I have not seen, but the tank went through a huge heat spike that killed a lot of the living things... it's been running for about 8 years, and the heat spike was in august.
Gear wise, there is a big pump, 2 reactors (still trying to figure this out...) a degraded skimmer, and some moderate leds, and hopefully some t5s.
My experience in saltwater is 0. However, I have bred dart frogs, raised trout, and many many many plants.
So far, I have enjoyed my lurking days, and am ready to dive into this community.
My first hurdle will be moving this giant! I plan on moving the live rock, fish, and saltwater using 2 IBC totes. The sand, will be saved and slowly added to the tank again. I understand there are issues with reusing sand, and I'm hoping to mitigate this by slowly putting it into the tank again.
Thanks for all the great information I have already read, I look forward to the rest of the posts that I need to catch up on!
Carson
