New bubble magus 5 skimmer overflowing!

No thats not normal I have same one. Mine is quiet. Perhaps you have bad pump did you buy it brand new? Stock pump that came with it?
i got brand new from amazon!. It just keeps overflowing with crazy amount of water and bubble form makes such a big noise. I just cant stand of it!

I got the same skimmer and its super sensitive just give it time.
i will give it a time but no other skimmer ever done this and its just so loud and overflows crazy! im not srue if this is normal

When I ran the curve 5 I had to lower the water level or else it overflowed. I think I ran mine in 5 inches of water. It wasn't loud at all so yours probably is due to not being broken in. I run all my new skimmers in RODi and vinegar for 30-60 minutes to break them in much faster. Then drop in the sump and they run perfect.

my current depth is 7inch mabye i should try to lower a little bit. Is ur maguss 5 dead silent? How long did it take for yours to break in ? i heard some people complaining with the loud noise! im not sure this is due to break in period or not.

You want to raise the skimmer, not lower it. I used egg crate to raise it up originally but then lowered the baffle in my sump as it was adjustable.

The skimmer was virtually silent unless my head was in the sump cabinet. You could only hear the slightest hum when very close to the tank.

Now depth is 5inch and its not creating micro bubbles or overflowing as much as before. but still overflows to the top and makes loud noise!

That looks good. Just give it a couple of days now to break in. Then you can start playing with the control knob to adjust and hopefully the noise will subside by then. If not I would contact Bubble Magus regarding the noise.

I dont understand why bubble magus is really complicated to adjust it cuz other brand name skimmers never do this and it works after few hours of breaking in.I was little skeptical about chinese brand even with good reviews. The noise is really loud to the point i cant stand it for more than a few mins. i will see what happens and return it and get reef octopus or red sea skimmer.

Not sure how much help I can provide, but I've been running a Curve 5 for about a year now. I keep mine in 8" of water and the break in period (even when I do a thorough cleaning) never causes it to overflow. I run mine around "1", and it's silent. So definitely check on the motor.

What filtering are you doing before the skimmer? The only times my skimmer has overflowed are when I've used epoxy to secure frags and when a "fresh" roll of filter fleece is put onto my roller filter.

I think somethings definitely wrong with the motor. Alot of people said is dead silent but mine is really loud i can even hear from like 15 feet away. i use filter socks but it has been washed with rodi water couple of times. I might go for reef octopus 150sss or s130. I didnt see people complain and heard its dead silent as well.

If it's the motor, then maybe if Bubble Magus replaces it your overflow won't be an issue.

It just seems to be a pain to try and return an item that's been "used". Good luck!

i just found out its not the motor that makes loud noise. It was actually overflowing bubble that made hugh noise, other than that motor seems to be fine. i will break in for a few days and see what happen. Thanks!
