I'm not the best at diagnosis when it comes to disease, and I don't want to get it wrong and over react. I just received a Spotbreast Angel from DD (which I've normally had good success with) and I'm a little disappointed. I know hole in the head is commonly an ailment related to Tangs/Angels, and I'm not sure if that's what I'm dealing with here.

Could I please get some opinions from those more versed in diagnoses than myself?

I'm not as well versed in fish disease as I would like to be but I know some folks that are :)

Have you contacted DD directly? They have incredible customer service. I would imagine they would refund money if it didn't look like that on their site.

This is my plan on Monday when they open up. It most certainly didn't appear to have any issues on their listing and none were mentioned. I know that they treat their livestock as part of their quarantine process and while disappointed I would be OK if this something that appears to be non life threatening and on its way to healing. I do not feel as though I should have to cure any obvious existing ailments when ordering from DD as that is part of the point. Perhaps someone can shed some light on what may be going on before I call them up to complain.

Could be hexatoma (sp) perhaps but it definitely looks more like an injury than that or HLLE to me!

It looks more like a wound to me versus HLLE. I'm not that versed in disease though. Good luck!

^^ Agree; looks like physical damage to me. A photo or two under white lighting would be helpful though.

Thank you everyone, I will snap a picture under better lighting conditions tomorrow when they come back on.

She is looking worse today. There are now larger growths/spots on some of the fins and the head wound looks angry.

Any updates on this?

I've done a couple Acroflavine baths and then treated the QT with metro, furan2 and kanaplex. The wound has grown slightly but she has lost all desire to eat. I've tried:

-Black Worms
-Live Brine
-Frozen Enriched Brine (garlic and selcon)
-Frozen Mysis (garlic and selcon)
-Flake (garlic and selcon)
-Spectrum Pellets (garlic and selcon)

I don't know what else to do at this point. She's still alive and I'm still trying to get her to eat, but it's not looking good at the moment.

How long has she been in antibiotics thus far?
