Thanks everyone I look forward to this being the 3rd and final successful atempt at a reef tank. I will hopefully keep my excitment down and take it slow. Im getting the last of the bits together for my stand and will at least get the top and bottom frame done this week.

Welcome home, you will love it here!

Welcome Lurker! Thanks for stopping in and saying Hi. You will find this best reef site this side of the Mason-Dixon line. I am out of Maryland too, north east of Baltimore. Some things I learned the hard way:

  • Fish do not like their Mysis covered with Old Bay, they get offended.
  • Aquamaxx skimmers are the devil, they do not even make good tire chocks
  • When you ask your significant other while you are 3000 miles away to feed the fish the worms in the fridge... Make sure she knows that you have worms in the fridge first or it leads to an interesting conversation of why there are worms in the fridge, and how long have they been hiding in the back bottom shelf behind the giant jar of olives that no eats but you HAD to get at Costco.
  • Oh..this sort of goes with the last point.. Make sure you tell her how much black worms they should get or she will feed the entire container of 2 ounces to the tank all at once of very hard to source worms. But you thank her anyway because she is trying and then you prep for the worlds largest water change in your head.
Think that will cover it. Feel free to reach out if you ever need something, people here are super nice and extremely helpful.
Tom
