New here peeps!!! Need help really bad!!!

The question is whether the phosphate is leaching from the rock itself or whether there were organics on the rock that are decomposing. If it's the rock, you are probably going to have to run some sort of phosphate removal (as I gather you are) for some time. If it was organics, they should eventually break down. I'd be tempted to do a 100% water change after you are finished cycling and measure how fast the phosphate builds back up. Then you'll know how much you'll have to pull out to stay even.

You are right to try to get on top of this before you add livestock to the tank. That makes it harder to do 100% water changes.:-)

Nice aquascape.

Your good!! So yes, the dry rock I got has been passed down through a few people... No problems stated, but its old

I let it soak in a muriatic acid bath for 6 hours and dry for for 24 hrs before I put in

The sand is a mixture I made of crushed coral, aragonite and some old live sand I got from an old craigslist purchase

So, 1st picture is the top surface of sand bed... 2nd is the bottom of tank... Sucks.. Cause most of the finer sand settled at the bottom

Actually might work out nicely... Not sure... Havent heard too many perps mix fine livesand and aragonite together... Or maybe im dreaming!!! Hahaha

So let's hope the phosphate is from the old live sand. How much did you use and did you wash it really, really well? Old sand can collect a lot of $&!@.

I washed the sand and aragonite over 20 times in an old rubbermaid... Until the water was clear...

Phosphate is lower since I checked this morning... 1.0 this morning... You want me to check right now and give results? I guess im super sketchy right now cause most stuff I read says not to run media reactors and dose redsea no3po4-x at the sametime

Im dosing 2ml. of the nopox straight into tank and also running 100g of ROWA-phos in my phosban150 media reactor per my LFS...

What kind of water did you use to mix your salt and what are you topping off with? This could be a source of phosphates.
