I've used that combo before, did wonders for my tank, I used a ratio of two thirds vinegar to one third vodka, start low and go slow increasing your dosage. If your start see white slim(bacteria bloom) cut your dose in half and keep an eye out for cyano.

That's about the ration I am using-590ml vinegar to 410ml of vodka. I am dosing the same as the nopox recommended dosage and see what happens. I am starting to see a bright green algae growing on my rocks which is kind of freaking me out. I need to get the nitrates down sooner than later. I need to get my refugium set up so I can have a place for my macro algae as well.

Thanks for the compliment. Right now I haven't been adding anything to the tank yet. Just waiting for it to cycle. Hopefully I will be adding fish from my old tank soon. Future plans will be to add a refugium and get the fresh and saltwater tanks established in the crawl space for top off and water changes.

Ok. So I have seen a slight decrease in my nitrates. Ammonia and nitrites have remained zero and I have been adding a mixture of vodka and vinegar and it seems to be helping but I'm going slow so it is too early to tell. I did lose my patience and added my fish anyways-I figured they could probably survive some nitrates. So far so good.
Interestingly enough though-when I was tearing up my rock in my old tank to catch my 2 Royal Gammas- I found a nest that they had made and there was a bunch of eggs. Hmmmm...there is nothing else in my tank that could have laid the eggs.

Ugh! I know!! I have been busy building this as well.
I did however get my top off system wired because I had to go to a work conference for a week and didn't want to have any issues with evaporation. I used a scrap piece of acrylic and made a bracket for my float switches.
Here is a pic of the tank from this morning.
My nitrates are at zero so I backed off on my vodka/vinegar dosing so my cyano is starting to clear up. I am trying to get a refugium plumbed by using a 29 gallon that I drilled and put baffles in it. It's my first time so it looks pretty rough. I'll try to get some pics posted of that when I get done with work on Monday.

Nice work! Planning on making a storage locker with a work surface out of my ReefSavvy crate. Nice to see them re-purposed. Too nice to just toss out.I figured out a use for my reef savvy tank crate.
It is the checkout counter at our new art studio.
