Thanks! I will do some adjusting of the height of the overflow drains first then check the length of the pipe under the water in the sump. It's really tough to get those pipes to move after putting them through the uniseals! [emoji15]
I shortened the main siphon and secondary siphon pipes where they empty into the sump to about 1" below the water line. Now it seems that the main siphon can get rid of the air much quicker but still takes about a minute. The secondary siphon starts right away because it has a small hole drilled in the top of the fittings inside the overflow box.
Make sure that if you put it under the stairs that you make more room for the tank. It is hard to explain but I wish I would have been able to bump out the area of the tank another 3 or more inches so I could have had a tank at least 24" deep. Right now the placement of the door only allowed me a maximum of 21". I couldn't extend it out further in front because of the walkway in front of the tank. Otherwise I love the use of the space.
Any updates? How was the experience with the Red Sea reef mature? I bought 2 units and plan on starting to cycle my tank within the next few weeks. I have to time it just right where I know I will not be out of town for a while.
