I'm going to be ordering one of these just wondering what model I should go with? Seems like Jebao has recently come out with a new model the DS-4. So I'm not sure if I should get the 3.4 or the DS-4. The DS-4 is the same as the DP-4 with the LCD screen on top it just has the additional option of WiFi connectivity. Obviously it's larger than the 3.4 Red & White model but I read some where it has better part? I dont know it's that's true or not but I have read so many reviews on both of them my head is spinning! Lol This thread was very useful to me though. Sounds like you guys for the most part are liking yours. So which should I buy the 3.4 Red & White or the DS-4?

I bought one and found it very easy to get connected to wifi, but I royally messed up with it because of the horrible instructions. It turns out, from the app, you need to have the doser's main control in the "on" position, but each individual channel in the "off" position when using it in program mode. I set up the programs and then simply turned on the channels. Well, after a few moments I noticed that my nano tank looked like whole milk, and yanked the plug. My DT's Alkalinity went to over 10dkh, and I managed to do a 90% water change on the Nano making water in about 5 minutes since I had some RODI already made. It has been a few days now, and everything is fine with my Alk back to around 7.5 with no burnt tips, so I dodged a bullet this time. The Jebao seems to work, but it is not very accurate, the instructions suck and the app is very poor, but the price is great and wifi works fine. Since I am dosing ESV, the accuracy is not that important because I am constantly testing and changing the amount I dose as I add corals and as they grow anyway. It has only been a few days, so I will update if my opinion changes.
I'm surprised you didn't significantly shock your corals doing a 90% water change at one time, that's unheard of. But why would you want your dkh at 7.5? I have a mixed reef with about 60% SPS and I keep my alk at 10.5 never had an issue with burnt tips. I used to keep my alk low but I started raising it up a year or so ago after I read some scientific studies that supported higher alk levels with increased coral growth. I found a sweet spot at 10.5. I've seen some pretty significant growth as opposed to 8 dkh I used to keep it at.

yesterday I realized that the red lights were on and the green lights were off. I think because of the loss of signal with internet. The settings remain or does it stop dosing?
It will stop dosing if not connected to the app schedule via WiFi.

I bought two of these. Going to dose 2 part and red sea trace elements with one and do AWC with the other.

I won't do both at first. Too much to go wrong. Will start with dosing for about a month then AWC.

I like the size, app and built in hanging slots on these.

I’d highly recommend 3.4. No need for the LCD screen when all controls are conveniently in the smart phone app.

Yeah it’s answered. Sometimes we get power outs . I was wondering if my wifi is off . Would it still dose what I put it to dose. Can you try it by any chance. Just unplug the WiFi . Or im just going to get the original doser.
It will need WiFi connection to Communicate with your app schedule settings.

I will probably try raising my alkalinity. For some reason I started lowering it a while ago because a friend that is on Triton told me that he keeps his around 7 and he has incredible growth. I ended up having a zinc issue due to a magnet and lost a few corals, but most of the survivors are now doing pretty good. Believe it or not, but my goni's just kept growing thru all the issues, but the birds nests were the first to go. I may get another birds nest just to have it as a canary in the mine.

I'm interested in this doser, but someone suggested you have to rename your router access points SSID to "wifi"? Is that really true, or did I misunderstand?

you just have to make sure your router gives a 2.4 gig. If your modem only has 5.0 it will not connect. Must have 2.4. Xfinity has both so connecting it was very easy and simple.

Bump.
How you all doing ? Just ordered this one as my current jebao older model doses 2ml over even though I calibrated it ten thousand times. I have the right WiFi so I don’t expect any issues there.

Did you order the 3.4 model or the newer 4.4 model that just came out?

I bought the 3.4 a year and a half ago and also find that the 2nd head doses slightly less than the 1st. Calibration is for all heads together if I'm not mistaken, so I think the only thing to do is dose a different amount for the heads which takes some trial and error. Other than that it's been great.

I don't see a new 4.4 model out except for maybe some questionable aliexpress listings. Do you have a link? Thanks.

They just came out and are only on aliexpress so far. they will hit Amazon soon, but will be at a higher price when they do.

I've ordered several things from Aliexpress and have never had an issue.

I got the 3.4, wasn’t aware there was a an even newer one! Willing to buy and return the other.. I’ll Google around. So are most of you having good experiences?
I am baffled by the cost of the name brand ones, do they really cost that much to produce?

no they cost that much to market and have support for. I have been on the manufacturing side of an industry and that is the bulk of just about all costs except for labor if it’s done in the US. If produced outside the states the cost is minimal comparatively
